On a scale of 1-10, President Andrew Jackson receives a 6 out of 10. He deserves this rating because of his life experiences growing up, his expansion of the country, and his treatment of slaves and Indians. Two positives of his Presidency are his experiences before his Presidency and the expansion of the nation. Andrew Jackson is known for being one of the first presidents to not come from an aristocratic background. Being orphaned as a youth gave him an innocent outlook on the country. Instead of having parents tell him how he should feel about certain topics, he was able to develop his own opinions on life. During his term as President, the country gained multiple states, and helped develop future states. Besides acquiring Michigan and Arkansas, Texas gained its freedom during his presidency, along with some Native American defeats in Florida. Although Jackson was very successful as President, he had an evil outlook on slaves and Indians. When he was a soldier, Jackson was known for being very violent, even massacring Indians. Jackson also owned a large plantation, which contained approximately 100 slaves. He even expected slavery to stay around forever. Jackson accomplished many good things as president, but his views and actions upon different social groups were disgusting and disappointing.
