Synopsis
Abstract

This IDC study represents a comprehensive overview and update of the market opportunities and forecasts
for finance and accounting (F&A) business process outsourcing (BPO) in the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan)
region or APEJ. This F&A BPO overview covers qualitative as well as quantitative insights across 12 APEJ
countries for 2005 up until 2010. This evaluation is made possible through IDC's continuous engagement of
various F&A BPO players across APEJ, which includes interviews with executives, site visits, customer
interviews and using IDC's contracts database.

This report is of value to BPO service providers as well as enterprises in answering the following questions:

Which areas of F&A BPO are the most promising and why? How big is this market opportunity and in which
countries? What are the unique characteristics and the trends for F&A BPO across sub- categories
(accounting, accounts payable and receivables, cash management and finance) and by countries in APEJ?
What is the difference between processing services and BPO? How does this impact the market in APEJ?
"To some extent, the Asian financial crisis a few years ago forced the banking and financial sectors to
examine their own processes and to look for sustainable and effective solutions. BPO is playing a major
role in these transformational needs through better processes and corporate governance in the financial
sector," says IDC's Asia/Pacific BPO senior analyst, Conrad Chang.
