For example spending review looks for spending immediately followed by review + The plus sign is no longer available in web search for forcing an exact match search . Use double quote marks around words or the Verbatim option from the menu to the left of your results. It can still be used in Google Scholar, though. Simply add the + sign to the front of your term (no spaces). Minus sign before a term excludes pages containing that term. It can also be used before some commands, for example site:Wikipedia.org to exclude a particular site or domain from the search ~ Synonym search. Precede your term with the tilde to include synonyms in your search. For example ~energy will also look for electric, electricity, gas, oil * Use the asterisk to stand in for one or more terms between two words, For example macular * degeneration, solar * panels .. Numerical range search. This can be used with numbers of any kind for example years, temperatures, weights, prices, distances. Separate the two values in your search by two full stops (no spaces). For example: TV advertising spend forecast 2012..2015 &pws=0 Add this to the end of the URL of your search results page to remove Google's personalisation. (This is no longer reliable and does not always work) allinanchor: All of your search terms must appear in the anchor text of links to the page allintext: Searches for pages containing your search terms in the text of the page. For example allintext: uk petrol prices should return only pages containing uk petrol and prices in the text of the page. allintitle: Restricts results to pages containing all of your search terms in the title of the page. (intitle: searches for pages that have the term immediately following intitle in the title.)

allinurl: Restricts your search to pages containing all of your terms in the URL.(inurl: searches for pages that have the term immediately following inurl: in the URL of the page) AROUND(n) Undocumented and debatable as to whether this really works. It is said to look for your two search terms within the specified number of words in either order. For example climate AROUND(3) change cache: cache: followed by the URL of a page displays Googles cached version of a web page instead of the current version of the page. filetype: Restricts your results to the specified file format. For example including filetype:pdf in your strategy finds only PDF documents. inanchor: The term immediately following inanchor: must appear in anchor text of links to the page. Other terms can be anywhere within the pages intext: Restricts your search to pages containing the search term immediately following intext: in the text of the page. Other terms can be anywhere in the document. intitle: Searches for pages that have the term immediately following intitle: in the title of the page. Other terms can be anywhere in the document. inurl Searches for pages that have the term immediately following inurl: in the URL of the page. Other terms can be anywhere in the document. link: Shows pages that point to the URL of a page. For example link:www.rba.co.uk/sources/mr.htm finds pages that have links to RBAs list of market research resources. Note: this command shows only a very small selection of pages that link to the URL. Use Blekko.com's link and SEO options for comprehensive results. OR Use OR to specify alternative terms. For example oil OR petroleum. OR must be in capital letters. related: Finds pages that are similar in content and from similar organisations to the specified page for example related:www.bwea.com site: Restricts your search to the specified site or domain for example site:statistics.gov.uk, site:ac.uk, site:edu
