THREE VIEW AND LAYOUT
6.1 WING LAYOUT In the preliminary mission specification, where the second weight estimation was carried out (report 2), the total weight was obtained as 1987.14 gm. The airfoil chosen meeting the mission requirements was Clarke Y airfoil. The chord length of this airfoil was assumed as 0.2 m and the aspect ratio was fixed as 6.0. With these values the span length obtained was 1.2 m. But from the subsequent studies (report 4) the optimum wing loading was found to be 58.95 N/m2 and third take off gross weight was found to be 1283.5 gm (report 5). Hence the wing span as well as the chord length will be changed from existing design specification as 1.1319 m and 0.188 m respectively. In the present report the basic geometric details of the aircraft estimatedin previous section (given in report 5) are used to model the three views. Also to achieve stability high wing is preferred. For manufacturing ease, rectangular plan form for the wing (with no dihedral, no sweep and no taper) and a box cross-section for the fuselage are preferred.

6.2 FUSELAGE LAYOUT The fuselage is the main structure, or body, of the aircraft. It provides space for personnel, cargo, controls and most of the accessories. The power plant, wings, stabilizers, and landing gear are attached to it.To mount the motor and battery in the aircraft, provision is planned to be made near the nose of the UAV. The length of the fuselage from initial sizing is 1.19 m. The maximum cross section for the fuselage is taken to be approximately 100 X 100 mm.The landing gears of the UAV are nonretractable tri-cycle type. Landing gears consist of rubber types and fixed linkage made of aluminium.

6.3 EMPENAGE DIMENSIONS 6.3.1HORIZONTAL TAIL The aspect ratio of horizontal from initial sizing is 3.6.The span length and chord length is found to be 0.4397 m and 0.188 m respectively. Ten ribs are placed along the length of span. 6.3.2 VERTICAL TAIL The aspect ratio of vertical tail from initial sizing is 1.5.The span length and chord length is found to be 0.2035 m and 0.08944 m respectively. Five ribs are placed along the length of span.. The diameter of the propeller is found to be 225 mm from historical data, based on this, the fuselage reference line and ground clearance is established. The drawings and 3D model of the UAVwith initial sizing estimated from previous section (report 5) are modelled in Pro-E and are shown in figures below. 6.4 WETTED AREA DETERMINATION: The aircraft wetted area were calculated using CAD model and using formulae mentioned below
S wet = Aexp osed [1.977 + 0.52(t / c)]

1. Fuselage wetted surface: 0.314m 2. Wing wetted surface : 0.692m 3. Tail wetted surface : 0.086m 6.5 VOLUME DETERMINATION: The aircraft internal volume were calculated using CAD model and using formulae mentioned below
Vola / c = 3.4( Atop Aside ) 4L

= 0.004m3

All the geometric details for initial sizing have been clearly shown in the 3D-view diagram of the aircraft (Fig. 6.1). It is to be noted that these details have been arrived based on considerations of wing loading of 58.95 N/m2, chord of 0.188 m and aspect ratio of 6.0.
