TIP Project Guidelines

The TIP (Technology Integration Project) is the final activity designed to test your abilities at work in collaborative groups and utilizing technology to further progress content learning and student centered instruction. The goal of this project is to create a coherent unit that uses technology-based methods to promote student achievement utilizing content standards (Common Core or PASS) by working in a team teaching or collaborative department setting. How might want to begin with: o Form groups of similar content area or grade, no more than 4 people. o Identify a grade level and set of skills. o Using the content standards, pick a topic and begin forming ideas for a lesson theme. Think of this as a unit comprised of a number of lesson plans equal to the number of people in your group, plus 1. The plus one is a group lesson that will be done together. o Write a series of overall objectives to unify the unit. o Develop a rough timeline of the lessons you will teach. Each person in the group will take responsibility for one lesson plan that will be graded on an individual basis. However the lesson plans should be consistent as a group. Requirements Each lesson must utilize a different technology. Each lesson must list at least one iPad app that would support the learning objectives of your lesson plan. There is a minimum of 3 technologies, with iMovie being a required technology Matrix The matrix is group work that will contain the main points of your group lessons. The Matrix will contain the topic of your unit, target audience, unit objectives, Pass or CC Standards, technology standards, timeline of lessons in unit, and what each lesson will utilize in terms of technology. The matrix will have an opportunity to be critiqued by your peers and then resubmitted. The matrix is not a lesson plan it is not the group lesson plan. Individual Lesson Plan The individual lesson plan will use the lesson plan template provided in D2L. An iPad app must be utilized in your lesson, along with another technology of your choice. This technology can be something we have used in class, or a technology you have seen used elsewhere. The lesson plan must include everything listed in the lesson plan template. Group Lesson Plan For this, your group will start with a draft of ideas and present them to the class. Critiques and ideas will follow that allow you to develop your groups lesson. As a group, you will finalize the lesson plan and then produce the instruction and activities necessary iMovie. A storyboard template will be passed out to help in drafting your ideas for the movie. The lesson plan template on D2L will be utilized.

Critiques of Matrix and Lesson Plans An opportunity will be given to critique the matrix, individual lesson plan, and group lesson plan. Utilize the critique forms found on D2L in order to critique the lesson plan and matrices of your peers. Each assignment will be submitted, reviewed, and then resubmitted by the feedback that was given. Overall TIP Criteria The final submission will be found on your WIKI, in an organized and logical manner and on time. o Include descriptions and files of all lessons, activities, assessments, etc. Final unit includes a short summary of the challenges and lessons learned in the project as well as each members contribution emailed as an attachment to the instructor individually by the last day of class (approximately one page) Lessons are coherent and well aligned with each other and the overall unit objectives. Any sources are cited appropriately (including clips, software, and any lesson plans consulted for ideas). iMovie must be instruction focused. (Expect point deduction if not) o All team members participated in the iMovie o Movie matches the unit plan. o Movie has value o Movie is edited. o Movie uses moving video as well as still pictures. o Movie uses audio files Music Sounds Live voice o Music, sounds and other audio files are appropriate for the content. o Movie has appropriate and steady filming. o Movie is at least 2 minutes long. iMovie Storyboard is included. Critiques and Earlier drafts all submitted to show how ideas changed and responses to feedback. Point Makers Regarding Individual and Group Lesson Plans Lesson plans MUST be original. If you get ideas for your lesson plan you MUST cite where you got your ideas. Rationale and description is provided for lesson. Tell me WHY! Content standards (Common Core / PASS) are clearly written or summarized Lessons provide a rigorous AND accurate treatment of both objectives and Pass/CC standards Pre-requisites and Special Needs Adaptations must be listed and aligned Innovative use of technology that is appropriate for the activity/lesson. Technology is incorporated in a meaningful, student centered way. Assessments throughout the unit match the objectives and are logical results of planned class activities. Assessment must be creative, not simply a quiz. Objectives MUST be written correctly (3-Part Mager).
