ABOUT Raffles Design Institute

Raf es Design Institute, (RDI) Shanghai was founded in 1994 under the direction of the Chinese Ministry of Education as well as the "211 Project" key institutions - Donghua University and Raf es Education Corporation, making it a pioneer in Sino-Singaporean cooperation. After more than 17 years of expansive growth, our student number has increased to around 3000. As one of the leading and largest design institutes in Asia, RDI brings together people, cultures and ideas from around the world. Our vision is to create a distinctive institutional style through an academic environment of learning and quality educational support. RDI is currently "China Cup's" International Fashion Design Competition Organizing Committee's chosen and recognized educational body for quality fashion designer development, as well as a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). In 2010, RDI Shanghai was selected by 2010 Shanghai Expo as the only uniform design partner for the Shanghai Pavilion.

Worldwide College Network and Inter-college Credits Transfer

RDI Shanghai is one of the education institutes under the Raf es Education Group, Singapore. As a leading design educational provider in the Asia Pacic area, our college network covers 12 countries across 32 major cities: Sydney (Australia), Auckland (New Zealand), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Bangkok (Thailand), Ho Chih Minh (Vietnam), Hanoi (Vietnam), Mumbai (India), New Delhi (India), Bangalore (India), Jakarta (India), Ulaanbator(Mongolia) and many cities in China including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Changchun, Tianjin, Langfang, Kunming, Xian, Hefei, Ningbo, Changzhou and Wuhan. During the 3-year programme, students of RDI Shanghai can apply for transfer to the college network in Sydney Australia (Raf es College of Design and Commerce) or Singapore (Raf es Design Institute Singapore) to nish their third year courses overseas.

Rich Opportunities for International Competitions and Talents Displays

RDI students have always placed great importance on participating in various international competitions. RDI Shanghai not only encourages participation, but provide students with the necessary guidance to maximize their creative talents. We are proud to have among our student body many award winners from various international and local competitions such as the Asian Youth Fashion Designers Contest, China Cup, Crowbar Design Awards, Capitaland Business Marketing Competition, the Masters Cup Dress design competition, Chevrolet Tennis T-shirt Design contest, Beijing Olympic Games Emblem design contest, and Pasteur Foundation logo design competition, just to name a few. Students learn much through these competitions as they provide a platform for them to gauge the quality of their work.

Annual Graduation Show and Fashion Show

RDI Shanghai holds a large-scale annual graduation show and fashion show. In addition to students and parents, many industry guests and media are invited to attend. This is a major event where graduates can showcase their works after three years of studying at RSH to an audience of a thousand. It is also a platform between graduates and employees, as many companies come to the show with intentions of recruiting. The Annual Exhibition & Fashion Show Vision by RDI Shanghai was held at the Superbrand Mall on April 15, 2010. Dozens of popular media attended, including Dragon TV, SETV, Channel Young, Xin Min Evening News, Shanghai Morning Post, Shanghai Evening Post, Shanghai Wednesday, Youth Daily, Oriental Morning Post, Shanghai Daily, Family Education Times, Student Post, Online Shanghai, People Daily website, China Visual website, QQ, and ELLE China Website, to name a few, were present and gave glowing coverage of the event.
