BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE PROGRAM

In todays professional legal environment, employers seek law graduates who are job-ready from day one. They expect new recruits to be able to adapt faster to demands of working in one of the worlds most challenging and fascinating industries. This includes skills such as understanding client objectives, modifying contracts, writing clear and persuasive legal documents, structuring professional emails and much more.

WHAT THE PROGRAM WILL COVER

LAP has been modelled to put academic and practical skills in a symbiotic relationship for law students and emerging legal professionals. The program is a unique and innovative experience and the only one of its kind currently in India. It focuses on the overall development of knowledge and its suitable implementation in work based scenarios through simulations, case studies, client negotiations, interviews, group discussions and other pioneering learning methods. Another novel aspect of this program resides in the fact that various core modules are taught and lectured on, by experienced faculties who have specialized and undertaken extensive work in those areas.

The program has been uniquely designed for the needs of emerging legal professionals in India regardless of the desired career path. The Legal Advancement Program will benefit anyone planning a career in Law from working in a Law firm or in-house legal department, to practicing litigation or working in an LPO. Law students or those who have graduated within the last two years will benefit most from the program.

PROGRAM DESIGN AND DURATION

The Program starts with a one hour online diagnostic test where a scenario is presented and students are required to do a number of different tasks. This test allows the student to measures where he is in terms of knowledge and skills. The program has scenario-based learning which uses actual case examples to develop a students legal practice skills. Instead of long lectures and volumes of material to read, we present real challenges that lawyers face on a daily basis. The program provides the student with the tools to address these legal matters, helping them become job-ready. It has been developed through collaboration with leading UK and Indian legal professionals. The program duration is approximately four months, and should take up to 80 hours to complete, including the live sessions.

EXAMINATION AND CERTIFICATION

After completion of the Program, a three hour proctored online examination will be conducted. This examination is designed to test students ability to apply the concepts and frameworks learned throughout the Program. The examination will present several real-world scenarios that will require the student to complete legal tasks or make decisions on the optimal path for resolving the legal matter In addition to the scores of final examination, the evaluation may also include one or more the following: Scenario Scores and Assignments. Candidates who complete the Program shall receive Certificates based on their evaluation as follows : >> 90% and higher Certificate of Distinction, 50 89% Certificate of Completion >> Those securing less than 50% have an opportunity to sit in the re-exam, but cannot earn distinction. >> The final decision on evaluation methods rests with Thomson Reuters and may change.
