ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAMME


Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D. Programme for an academic session 2013-2014 in various disciplines of Engineering Technology/ Chemical Technology/ Bio-Technology/ Information & Communication Technology/ Medicine & Para Medical Health Sciences/ Management/ Environmental Sciences/ Basic & Applied Sciences/ Humanities & Social Sciences/ Law & Legal Studies/ Education in different University School of Studies (USS) and Approved Research Centre (ARC).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
An applicant possessing any one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission to Ph.D. programme in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. (i) A Masters Degree in Engineering & Technology/ Sciences/ Humanities/ Social Sciences/ / Medicine/ Law/ Education/ Management from a recognized University approved by Association of Indian Universities/AICTE/ UGC/ MCI/ Bar Council or any other equivalent qualification to the satisfaction of Academic Council of the University duly approved by equivalence committee of the University, in the relevant field, with not less than 60% marks in aggregate.

(ii)(a) Applicants with a Bachelors degree in Engineering & Technology with either 75% or more marks in aggregate and a minimum of three years or 60% or more marks in aggregate and a minimum of fifteen years relevant experience in recognized Institute/ University/ Industry/ Government Organization may be considered eligible for admission on the recommendation of SRC and approval by BOS. (ii)(b) Applicants with MBBS Degree with either 60% or more marks in aggregate and a minimum of three years or 50% or more marks in aggregate and a minimum of 15 years relevant experience in Recognized Govt. Hospital/ Organization may be considered eligible for admission on the recommendation of SRC and approval by the BOS. (iii) (iv) For applicants belonging to SC/ST category and/or physically handicapped a relaxation of 5% in marks shall be admissible under eligibility conditions. Teachers working in any University or its affiliated colleges and having a teaching/research/other relevant experience of not less than 3 years may be allowed a relaxation of 5% marks under clause (i). Provided that out of the two relaxations stipulated under clauses (iii) and (iv) only one relaxation is permissible for an applicant. ( v) Perspective Research Candidate generally shall not have completed an age of 55 years at the time of submission of application for admission to Ph.D. Programme. A relaxation in the prescribed age beyond 55 years can, however, be recommended by the SRC/BOS with appropriate justification recorded and for final approval by the Vice-Chancellor.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
All the applicants shall have to appear for Research Aptitude Test (RAT) except foreign nationals. RAT examination will comprise of two sections except for University School of Medicine & Para Medical Health Sciences (USMPMHS) as follows:

*Note:

Subject Specific Test will also be of Multiple Choice Questions except for University School of Humanities & Social Sciences (USHSS). For USHSS 50% questions will be MCQ type and remaining 50% questions will be subjective type.

Duration of test will be 3 hours. Each correct answer of MCQ type question shall be awarded 4 marks and for wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted. For University School of Medicine & Para Medical Health Sciences (USMPMHS), Research Aptitude Test (RAT) will be of 3 hours with both sections of General Aptitude Test (GAT) (Multiple Choice Questions only). In all University School of Studies (USS) except USMPMHS Section I is a qualifying test and short-listing of candidates will be based on marks secured in Section II. The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview and final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in section II and interview (except USMPMHS). Both will have equal weightage. RAT has to be conducted by GGSIP University. Codes for USS/ Subject Specific Discipline and syllabii for different Subject Specific Tests as given in Annexure I & II are available on the University W ebsite: http://www.ipu.ac.in. Original documents related to educational qualification will be verified at the time of interview. A candidate working in an organization/institute shall produce "no objection certificate" from the employer at the time of interview.

Last date for sale of forms is 19th April, 2013 Forms will be available during working hours from Indian Bank, GGS IP University, Sector-16C, Dwarka Branch only.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM

Submission by Hand/ by Post: The Application Form must reach in the office of Director (Research & Consultancy), C-Wing Administrative Block, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Sector-16 C, Dwarka, New Delhi-110078 latest by 19/04/2013. Online Submission of Application Form: Candidates can apply online for Research Aptitude Test by filling up the online application form as available at University Website http://www.ipu.ac.in. on the payment of Rs. 1,100/- (Rs. One Thousand One Hundred Only) as application fee. All the applicants are advised to retain a photocopy of the duly filled-in Application Form before submission to the University. Last Date for submission of application form by Online/ by Hand/ by Post will be 19/04/2013 upto 5:00 PM.
Application received after last date due to any delay/ reason(s) shall not be considered.

The candidates should fill up the university school code in box no. 7, as mentioned in the information sheet. The candidates should fill up the subject/ discipline code at box no. 9b, as mentioned in the information sheet. (Filling up of this field is mandatory) The candidates should ensure to put his/her signature at box no. 12 and paste passport size photograph at box no. 10.
