ALERT for all Regional Transport Authorities RTAs in Haryana for strict compliance: Animal shifting in goods transport vehicles are banned in Haryana. I have been directed to inform that a State Committee for Slaughter Houses has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Sh. P.Raghavendra Rao, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government Haryana, Urban Local Bodies
Department, Chandigarh as per orders issued by the Honble Supreme Court of

India in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 309 of 2003 - Sh. Laxmi Narayan Modi Vs. Union of India and others. A meeting of the Committee was held on 14.2.2013 (minutes of meeting enclosed). At Sr.No. VI of the minutes of the meeting, it was decided that animals should not be transported by goods vehicles towards slaughter houses. They must be transported in specific vehicles only. Further it has been desired that the animals may be shifted by their shape and size and not by weight. So it is requested that necessary instructions may kindly be issued to the Regional Transport Authorities that at the time of passing /registering the goods vehicles, an undertaking may kindly be obtained from the owners that the passed vehicles will not be used to carry animals.
