PSA Project: AIDS and HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa

AIDS and HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa is the cause of many deaths and lots of suffering. Basically, the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is transmitted through blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. The actions that allow HIV transmission are blood contact, mother to infant and sexual contact. The HIV locates T cells, white blood cells, and CD4 cells and injects its DNA into these cells. T cells, white blood cells, and CD4 cells protect the body from diseases and they are part of the immune system. The viruses inject into these cells, bursting them, and creating more viruses. As more viruses destroy the cells, these cells in the immune system cant protect the body against the huge populations of HIV viruses. When so many cells are killed, the acquired immune deficiency syndromes (AIDS) show. AIDS take advantage of the weak body by taking over the immune system. AIDS then causes dangerous diseases to happen like cancer. Due to the spreading disease of AIDS and HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa, the life expectancy rates have decreased significantly and about one million people in that area dies from HIV and AIDS. Medication may reduce the numbers of HIV viruses in the body, but there is no known cure for HIV and AIDS to completely remove the virus. Since HIV and AIDS are spread rapidly in Sub-Saharan Africa, the life expectancy rates are also decreasing. The life expectancy in Sub-Saharan Africa used to be to the age of fifty-four years old, but now, it is forty-nine years old or even younger. Since more and more parents are dying from HIV, the children become homeless and may have AIDS thats been past down from their mother. The orphaned children live a heartbreaking life of pain and suffering and the mismanaged economy cant help these children. As a result of mismanaged economies, not enough money is being flowed down to the villagers and only people in the top of the hierarchy get the money. The infected people with AIDS and HIV need this money to support studies of the virus and help pay for medication that reduces the amount of HIV viruses in the body. HIV and AIDS have no cures presently, but people can reduce the amount of infected people or reduce pain. A solution to HIV and AIDS is to decrease the number of people with the virus by teaching them abstinence. By having self-restraint, it could possibly prevent children from suffering and increase the life expectancy. Another solution is to donate money to AIDS and HIV clinics in Sub-Sahara Africa. Using medication to combat AIDS and HIV requires lots money since these diseases are extremely lethal. By making this situation public like having public service announcements, people can learn about what is happening in Africa. Once people learn out this crisis, they could be inspired to donate or to even provide service hours to help people in Africa. An additional answer to AIDS and HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa is to use stem cell research create more T-cells, white blood cells, and CD4s. This is a difficult path because doctors or professionals have to exchange the infected blood for the new and healthy blood. AIDS and HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa is a huge problem and people need to take action to help.
