Installation Instructions for EPDM Connector

These instructions refer to the installation of the EPDM DraftSight connector for DraftSight Premium (API required) version V1R3.1. Please read them completely before beginning your installation.

1. Extract the files

You were provided with these instructions and either the EPDM4DraftSight64.exe or EPDM4DraftSight32.exe file based on your operating system. Note that this EXE file may require admin privilege to run on Vista and Windows7.
1. Right mouse click on EPDM4DraftSight.exe and select "Run as administrator.

Do not click on Unzip yet.

2. Check the folder where the files will be extracted to. The default is the same as the DraftSight installation folder, C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\DraftSight. The Browse button allows to choose a different extraction folder; make sure to remember the path if you do so. 3. Click Unzip. 4. Click OK.

5. Click Close.

2. Add the registry entry

1. Open a command prompt as Administrator: Start menu > type in CMD > Right mouse click on cmd.exe and select Run as administrator.

2. Run the following command to add the registry entries for the plug-in (FullPath2 means the path to the extraction folder): regsvr32.exe <FullPath2>EPDMDraftSight.dll If you chose the default extraction folder, the command is:
regsvr32.exe C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\DraftSight\bin\ addins\EPDM

An easy way to avoid having to type the path is to use the drag and drop method: a. Type regsvr32.exe followed by a space b. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to EPDMDraftSight.dll c. Drag and drop it into the command prompt

3. Hit Enter. You should receive a confirmation for successfully registering the .dll file.

4. Click OK and close the command prompt. Note: To unregister to clean up the registry after uninstalling, run: regsvr32.exe /u <FullPath2>EPDMDraftSight.dll

3. Activate the plug-in in DraftSight

1. Open DraftSight, in the top menu bar select Tools > Load application

2. In the Select File dialog box, select browse to the EPDMDrafftSight.dll and click Open.

3. Click OK in the Add-in Properties dialog box.

Note that the Enterprise PDM menu has been added to the top menu bar.

If you select Tools > Add-Ins, it also appears in the DraftSight Add-Ins dialog box, Active and Start Up being enabled.

To add the EPDM toolbars, enter TOOLBARS in the command line and enable them from within the Specify Toolbars dialog box.

Note that the Menu sub-item SolidWorks Enterprise PDM Help Topics was also added to the Help menu.
