Immigration Reform:

Wbat we know so far

Kd'
introduced a bill on immigration reform. A /
a proposal for a law. It is important to keep in mind that this is the
beginning of the process and that there is no new law and nothing
new to apply for at this time! There is no new legalization law or program yet. There might not ever be one. Even if
this proposal is ultimately approved, the process of approval will take at least 1-2 months as it moves through the
legislative process if it is successful.

Here for now. Pay attention to the date of this flyer in the bottom right corner
and realize that the information here is subject to change until the law is passed (if we are so lucky).

The GOOD:
x d, for DREAMers, and for agricultural workers called
ZW/ZW/;
x Available to people in removal proceedings, with final orders of removal, and some who have been deported;
x People who do not qualify for the blue card may be able to qualify through family members
x There is no requirement to leave the US in order to legalize, but people with RPI should be able to travel;
x People with a family petition in the backlog will be able to process instead of waiting years;
x More work-related visas will be made available, including more H-1(b)s for high-skilled workers, and a new W
visa for lower skilled workers who will be able to change their employer if they wish.

The BAD:
x /
(during that time they can legally work and drive). They must wait another 5 years to apply for citizenship.
x drelated to border security that must be tripped in order for legalization to take place;
x In order to qualify for the path to citizenship, you must have been in the country before December 31, 2011;
x There is funding for substantially increased enforcement, including billions of dollars more in the budget and
hiring of 3,500 more Border Patrol agents;
x E-Verify will be mandatory across the country;
x The Diversity Visa Lottery and the siblings of US citizens category will be eliminated;

The UGLY:
The people who are against immigration reform are already calling Congress with voices of anger and hatred. We need
to defend what has been gained, and fight to change the bad parts of the bill. What can I do? TAKE ACTION!
