Standard Chartered Bank Managed a team of over 3,400 collection and recovery associates in 30 countries throughout Asia, Middle East and Africa. Delivered charge-off targets within budget for the entire consumer bank. Portfolios included mortgage, credit card, personal loan, auto and SME lending. Led a project that reduced associate attrition from a peak of 44% in 2009 to a steady state of 18%. Consistently in the top 10% of the consumer bank in associate satisfaction. Developed teams in multiple countries to effectively manage customers experiencing financial stress. Introduced industry leading alternative channel strategies in markets not accustomed to them. Developed and implemented advanced collection strategies that optimized both efficiency and effectiveness. This included treatment based modeling, contact sequencing and targeted interventions.

Discover Card (Goldfish UK) Managed a team that designed, reviewed and implemented all strategies in Collections and recovery for a 2b GBP credit card portfolio. Exceeded profit plan goals by approximately 900k GBP each month beginning in September 2007. Introduced new channel strategies to collections team (letter, web, VRU, SMS, email). Redesigned agency placement strategy to emphasize focus on charge-off plan. Implemented testing strategies designed to provide the necessary data for modeling and/or channel optimization. Migrated to a new collections platform in October 2007 with no defects. Managed the sale of approximately 300mm GBP in charged-off assets.

Bank of America Developed a website and the strategies for web based customer collections. MyEasyPayment.com was the first collections based website in the industry and received over $500MM in payments per year until being discontinued in 2008. This site was published in the Wall Street Journal, Collections and Credit Risk Management, Collection Technology News, and American Banker. Created collections treatment specific strategies (models / clusters) to maximize collector effectiveness while minimizing costs. This strategy led to a decrease of 35% in expenses and a decrease of 5% in losses. See patent below for reference. Maintained and enhanced post charge-off strategies to obtain optimal profitability. Responsible for evaluating and developing new solutions and/or technologies to provide a competitive advantage for Bank of America. Developed and managed workforce management specific models to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Responsible for all portfolio management profit based modeling activities for a $20B credit card portfolio including the P&L impacts of these models. Specific model attributes include balance transfer, activation, retention, pricing, attrition management, fee income, convenience check, collections, and post charge-off modeling. Managed a team of five highly skilled modelers to create and sustain profit models. Cross-functional team lead tasked with implementation and management of a profit based retention model for $10B credit card portfolio. Developed collections model required to determine profitability. Refined existing cash flow based modeling methodologies, and implemented a proactive retention effort.

First of America Bank (now National City Bank) Created attrition strategies to maximize bankcard portfolio returns. Developed an account level profitability measure and predictive methodology to drive marketing and risk strategies. Built an economic forecasting tool that encompassed internal delinquency and loss forecasting techniques. Initiated and managed an internship program in cooperation with Western Michigan University. Sponsored and directed two interns.

Whirlpool Financial Corporation (now Transamerica Finance) Provided analysis and procedural recommendations to consumer portfolio policies. Responsible for building risk strategies that encompasses the life cycle of an individual account including creation of retention strategies to maintain portfolio profitability. Reviewed external economic behavior to position the corporation to outperform its competitors while maintaining customer satisfaction Responsible for analysis of budgetary and pricing policies including creation and support of complex pricing and risk models in Lotus, Excel, and SAS. Projects included consumer portfolio restructuring to minimize risk. Validated economic forecast systems and behavioral scorecards and recommended new strategies in conjunction with that analysis. These actions included credit loss forecasting and sales of clean and charged off accounts in the credit card portfolio. Developed a collector productivity system to evaluate, analyze and improve collector performance. Led analytical efforts to optimize their performance. Analyzed credit card account to minimize losses. Special projects include the installation of new application scorecards, Scorenet scoring, and behavioral scoring from Fair Isaac (author of a decreasing credit line program). Lead risk and return studies to maximize profitability. Prepared and reviewed financial data for management. Monitored loss provision and reserve accounts to ensure proper coverage. Collected delinquent receivables by phone. Rewrote collection letters to increase effectiveness and comply with FDCPA laws. Resigned in 1992 to continue education and returned in 1994.
