Both of David Wolfes parents are medical doctors. His father had a general practice, then became an osteopath over his 35-year career. His mother is an anesthesiologist. As a child, he spent a lot of time at his parents offices. He even used to travel with his dad on house calls. He has observed the inside of the medical profession with a unique perspective. As a child, he noticed that people did not get better by taking medicine. Instead, they got worse. When he was about ten years old, he decided he was not going to take medicine anymore for any reason. When he and his brothers would get sick, he would only be sick for one or two days, while their flues or colds would linger for four or five days with medicine. He learned to rest and drink only freshly-squeezed orange juice all day and soon he would feel better. This set him on a path that would transform his destiny. In his late teens he found that he was reacting to certain foods. He was able to narrow it down to dairy products. Without really knowing anything about nutrition at that time, he cut out dairy products completely. He soon lost 10 pounds and felt remarkably better. It was the discipline of completely letting go of all dairy products which set up a blueprint for more dietary progress. He learned a valuable lesson: All disciplines affect each other. At the age of 14, he was introduced to self-help, personal development and spiritual literature. He started to read every book and listen to every audio tape in the field of nutrition that he had in his house. Through reading he discovered raw-food nutrition. He knew this was the way to achieve his maximum potential. He knew that it was his mission to bring this message to the world. After many years of experimenting, reading and communicating with thousands of others on this path of eating raw plant foods, he finally perfected what he calls The Sunfood Diet Success System.

Each persons idea of the world (their belief of what the world is) manifests everything in their life. When people change their idea of the world, the world itself changes. Essentially, the mission is not to set the world right, but simply to set themselves right. Those who accept 100% responsibility for everything that happens to them, will make incredible progress in their lives.

Goals
Great dreamers dreams are never fulfilled, they are always transcended. - Alfred Lord Whitehead Imagine a beautiful garden with brilliant Sun, crystalline water, friendly insects and rich soil ripe for the planting. A garden, perfect in every respect, except there are no desirable seeds present because they have not been planted. The only seeds sprouting are those weeds and shrubs planted by others, or by the wind and birds. Yet those haphazard plants continue to be cultivated and tended. This perfect garden, containing none of ones own seeds, is what the mind is like when no definite goals are present. If there is no crop to nurture to an edible state, one drifts along with the vagaries, whims and goals of others. Few realize that a major cause of stress (the great destroyer of health) is having no clear goals, no future plans.

Setting goals allows people to chart the course of their lives and control where they are going. The very first step before beginning a journey is an undiminished decision as to the direction. If one is determined to manifest the dormant powers within, they must first get clear about what they want and where they are going.
Within his book, Maximum Achievement, Brian Tracy outlines twelve steps to achieve goals:
Develop an intense desire to achieve the goals. Develop a strong belief in the goals. Write down the goals. Determine the benefit from achieving the goals. Analyze the starting point. Set deadlines to achieve the goals. Identify obstacles. Identify the additional knowledge or information required. Identify the people whose cooperation is required. Make a plan to achieve the goals. Visualize the achievement of the goals. Persist until the goals are achieved.
Lesson: Goals
1. Set a health goal to continuously act upon the information contained within this book. 2. Write down 100 goals to attain within the next year. Review them daily. 3. Take the top five goals for this year and write a sentence fulfilling each one of the 12 steps for goal achievement outlined by Brian Tracy above. 4. Continuously write down additional yearly goals and long-term goals. 5. Check off each goal as it is achieved.

6. Look at the top five yearly goals. As they are read, write down all doubts that come to mind. Resolve to dismiss any doubts that may be associated with each goal by writing down the following statement: I have total faith that everything in the universe is perfect. I have total faith in the magic and mystery of goal setting. I continuously manifest anything I choose. I am activated and inspired by faith.

8. Roots - the below-ground portion of plants. 9. Shoots - young plants spread by underground runners from their parent plants. 10. Bark - the outer, protective layer of trees. 11. Sap - the life-fluid of a tree (maple syrup, bee propolis). 12. Stems - the fibrous, structural pieces of plants. 13. Water vegetation - sea vegetables such as spirulina and algae. 14. Mushrooms - non-chlorophyll fungus that grows primarily in darkness (reishi, cordyceps). Of all the raw plant foods on Earth, The Sunfood Diet requires that more than 80 percent of food choices contain a balance of green-leafed vegetables, sweet fruits and fatty plant foods. The other 20 percent can contain any of the fourteen kinds of raw plant foods mentioned above, or other foods that one feels is appropriate for them. A diet of raw plant food puts people in touch with a new vital power. In the source of every vital power lies an endless abundance. A diet of raw plant food presents a whole new paradigm of health, wealth, success and possibility. Since The Sunfood Diet is in alignment with a natural way of life, it brings with it beauty, happiness, long-life and prosperity. The more perfectly clean ones body is, the more perfectly it will radiate their supernatural powers. The first things to evaporate in a toxic environment are the super-natural abilities provided to people at birth. These powers are possessed by wild animals, and formerly by humanity. As soon as the body begins to be poisoned, the powers slip away.

Typically these foods are attached to emotional anchors. When these foods are removed, emotional feelings come up to be detoxified out of the body. One may feel uncomfortable for the moment (as these feelings are released), but feel much better in the long-term. Every living organism is vibrating at a certain metabolic level. If the internal energy of the organism drops below a certain level, then the immune system is compromised. Illness is an energy crisis in the body - the body no longer has enough energy to hold together its integrity. Purifying the body through balanced, mineral-rich, raw-food nutrition raises the energy vibration, thus increasing the immune system.
Raw plant foods are the single most effective antidote to the following ailments:
Anxiety Depression Disease Fear Immobility Insomnia Pain Stress Worry

What to Eat
In the transitional stage, The Sunfood Diet incorporates cooked vegetables with a preference for more natural plant varieties. This program is to be coupled by individually advised short and long fasts on vegetable juices and/or water.
Bring one or two avocados and/or one or two apples with you. Order a salad, and mix the avocados and/or apples in with it. Do something different such as go to a juice bar, a raw food restaurant or to a park.

Cooked Starches
Cooked starches are typically the last cooked foods to go for most people as they transition into raw foods. This is because cooked starch is the most addictive and the most blood-sugar-altering food. A diet heavy in cooked starch over many decades can cause arteriosclerosis (hardening of the blood vessels), ossification of the tissues and joints, skin thickening and premature aging. Cooked starches include the following: Breads Pastas Cakes Rice Corn chips Potato chips Baked potatoes Popcorn Crackers Cookies
To help overcome addictions to cooked starch, one can switch to dehydrated starchy foods. Every little discipline adds upon every other. Another useful tool to stay off starches is to combine sweet fruits and fats together in a meal. For example, oranges can be eaten with avocado or apples with nuts. This simulates the gradual sugar release from the breakdown of complex carbohydrates (cooked starch) in digestion.
Dehydrated Food
Dehydrated foods (foods heated below 118 degrees Fahrenheit) are an excellent tool to help succeed with the raw-food approach. Dehydrated foods still have the enzymes intact. Many raw-food recipe books describe how to make dehydrated foods. David Wolfe recommends, RAW: The Uncook Book, Living In The Raw, and Raw Food, Real World. There are many other great recipe books on the subject.
Better Choices
Choose positive friends over negative relatives. Choose wine over beer. Most wine is raw. Beer is brewed (cooked). Choose dandelion over iceberg lettuce. Choose yams over potatoes. Potatoes are genetically weak, hybridized foods. Choose raw corn over corn chips. Choose ocean water, seaweed, Himalayan pink salt, or celtic sea salt over table salt.

Choose dried fruit over candy. Choose cruelty-free, organic, raw wild honey over conventional orchard honey. Choose raw cacao beans (and agave nectar, raw honey or yacon root syrup) over cooked chocolate. More information is found at www.rawfood.com and in Wolfes Naked Chocolate.

Wild Food
Wild food is Sunfood - food grown in abundance under the Sun (and moon!), not under artificial conditions of any type. As long as one is eating a wide variety of mineralrich, wild, raw plant food, one stands ready to experience outstanding levels of clarity, compassion, vitality, health and connection with nature. Seaweeds and sea vegetables of all kinds have never been cultivated. They are still in their wild unaltered form. They fit within the wild raw plant-food category, and are high in trace minerals. This is an important factor in a world where many are suffering from endemic mineral deficiencies brought about by consuming pharmaceuticals, chemicals, pesticides and cooked conventional foods that drain the vital energy.
The following foods are close to the wild state and/or are extremely viable when grown from seed:
Common vegetables: Dandelion Garlic and onions Kale Lambs quarters Malva Mint Mustard Watercress Wintercress and others Common fruits: Avocados Cherimoyas Crab apples Guavas Heavily-seeded citrus fruits

One of David Wolfes favorite wild foods is malva (mallow). In the winter, he typically starts off the morning with fruit blended with superfoods, then he eats malva for lunch and a salad with some raw plant fats for dinner along with vegetable juice. Every locale possesses wild foods with which to eat and live. Wild foods can be found in local canyons, alleys, backyards, fields, forests, hills, valleys and mountains. Edible Wild Plants: A North American Field Guide by Elias & Dykeman is a reference book that can be taken on hikes to identify the local edible greenery. By eating raw plant foods, David Wolfe believes people will become as deeply interested in gardening as he has. Gardening cultivates an intimate connection between humans, the plants, the Sun and the Earth.
