Most of the families were those affected by the earthquake that devastated a wide area of central Chile in February 2010. Regional and local government representatives, including the governor of Bio Bio, arrived to share with families the fulfilment of the dream of home ownership, a government statement said. This is a housing project whose investment exceeded $Ch1,800 million financed through the Housing Solidarity Fund and assisted some 120 families affected by the earthquake, and another 30 through a regular subsidy.

GUNNS TIMBER PLANTATIONS GOING ON OPEN MARKET More than 200,000 hectares of timber plantations established by the collapsed Tasmanian company Gunns are being put on the market, the ABC has reported. Liquidator PPB Advisory had previously said it was in talks with parties interested in taking over management of the multi-million-dollar investment schemes. It is believed Macquarie Group and the company WA Blue Gum were among those in discussions. NSW NURSERY CLOSURE STILL ON TABLE The closure of the New South Wales nursery in Dubbo cannot be ruled out, says the local politician, Troy Grant says he cannot rule out the closure of the Forests New

South Wales. The ABC has reported the State Government decided to lease its six retail nurseries, including the one in Dubbo, more than a year ago as it said they were not a key responsibility. Mr Grant says plans to sell the Dubbo facility have not been successful but the government is still negotiating a potential lease. He says it could still consider closing the nursery. [The following items and pics are contributed from INTA Concordia, Argentina] Designing and Building Useful Wooden Furniture A group of rural carpenters have met under the auspices of INTA Concordia in Argentina with the object of designing and building useful wooden furniture. The group started by designing and building a folding chair, so the chairs would occupy less space, are portable, practical and can be used in various situations.

Trees Planted in Youth Justice Facility Officials of the provincial government in the Argentine province of Corrientes have planted trees in a youth justice facility, INTA Concordia has reported. The trees were planted under the programme Trees for My City.

CHINA FORUM RAISES HOPES FOR BAY OF PLENTY FORESTRY BOOST The forestry industry in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand expects to gain from recent high-level contacts at a recent forum in China. Forestry representatives involved with the region's economic growth strategy group, Bay of Connections, had an input into what was brought to the table in Beijing and PF Olsen chief executive

Peter Clark, spoke at the forum. Bay of Connections forestry action group chairman, Bryce Heard, said in a statement that the forum in China could help to set the path for future growth for the industry. FOREST FAMILIES GATHER TO REMEMBER Workers who have been killed in New Zealand's forests will be remembered at a Workers Memorial Day service in Auckland on Sunday April 28. Workers Memorial Day is an annual global event to remember those who have been killed while doing their job.
