General
This document details the preliminary main hardware elements and software features for the E1/T1 over BreezeNET B release 1.0.

The Product Released to Beta

General Overview E1/T1 over BreezeNET B enables point-to-point tunneling of T1 or E1 traffic across wireless Ethernet devices. This small, simple-to-use unit provides seamless transport of T1 or E1 across an Ethernet link, thereby providing dramatic cost savings over the cost of conventional leased lines. This product inherits all BreezeNET B characteristics & thereby supports all BNB frequencies, simple to deploy, supports NLOS and contains QoS for voice and video applications. Key features include: Integrated IDU with E1/T1

Existing customer only replace IDU, agnostic to BNB frequency The ToS (Type of Service) mechanism provides 2 levels of priority Regular (Data) and High Priority (E1). Default 1 E1/T1 port enabled Licensing up to total of 4 T1's or E1's supported. BNB 14 will support up to 1 E1/T1, BNB 28 will support up to 2 E1/T1's & BNB 100 will support up to 4 E1/T1's. Point-to-point wireless solution in 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 5.8 GHz QoS for voice and video applications OFDM Non Line Of Site (NLOS) technology Fast and simple to deploy Network availability > 99,99%, RTD: 15ms-30ms for 1 E1 or T1

Dedicated E1/T1 service with remaining bandwidth available for data

Scalable multi port design

Inheriting all of BreezeNET B characteristics:

Product highlights The product introduced in the 1.0 release offers the following new capabilities: Eliminates monthly leased line charges Ideal for PBXs in campus environments Protects legacy equipment investments Provides Disaster Recovery capability Ideal for providing broadband for special events

About this Release

This release is intended for selected beta activity customers who are maintained by the product experts and marketing for trial and testing capabilities. This version is stable with good radio performance and focuses on all indoor and outdoor capabilities.

Software Features Supported

The version includes the following features: Network Configuration Operates as a bridge for the traffic injected via LAN port Static WAN IP. System Configuration User configuration via HTTP GUI page or CLI via telnet Upgrade method:

TFTP (client inside, you need a TFTP server) locally and remotely

TDM Configuration Select E1 or T1. Supports different encoding methods (HDB3 and AMI for E1 lines, B8ZS and AMI for T1 lines) Profiles definition allows different packet sizes and jitter buffer sizes definition. ToS definition allows traffic prioritization of E1 traffic over LAN traffic.

FEC configuration. While enabled, each bit is sent twice. This reducing number of error packets but duplicates the bandwidth used.

Known Problem & Limitations

Backup of the configuration is not available in this version. Will be supported in the next version. When the BNB Ethernet port is forced to 100/Full duplex and the E1/T1 IDU WAN port is defined as auto negotiation, the WAN link works in 100/Half duplex. For improving performance, it is required to define both E1/T1 IDU WAN port and BNB Ethernet port as auto negotiation. ToS & Profiles can only be configured via WEB. Wireless Link Prioritization is supported in this SW version (5) in only BNB 100. Regarding BNB 14 & BNB 28 will be supported in the next version. The Wireless Link Prioritization allows sending unlimited data without affecting the E1/T1 traffic. BNB28 and BNB14, don't support WLP and the data traffic should not exceed the available bandwidth so as not affect the E1/T1 traffic. Though we support fractional E1, the TDM IDU fills with zeros or ones the E1/T1 empty time slots. Because of this, a Half or a quarter E1 consumes the same bandwidth as one full E1 The cable connecting the E1/T1 IDU WAN port and the BNB Ethernet port should be at least 5 meters length.

General Notes:
Local management IP address is 192.168.1.1 and it is fixed. Do not use this IP address on the LAN side. Also, dont use network 192.168.1.x for any of the hosts attached to the LAN port.

Compatibility with other Alvarion Systems

The TDM IDU can be used in conjunction with BreezeNet-B systems

Warning
The TDM IDU WAN port carries both DC power and Ethernet toward the BNB unit (BU and RB) over a CAT-5E connection. Do not connect data equipment (such as PC) to the TDM IDU WAN port without the power blocker as it may harm it.

Upgrade Procedure
Software upgrade

The software upgrading can only be performed via telnet, and can be done locally or remotely. The local upgrading is performed with a TFTP server connected to the LOCAL or LAN port of the E1/T1 IDU. The remote upgrading is performed through the WAN port, with a TFTP server connected to the remote E1/T1 IDU LAN port. E1 ports enabled upgrade The E1/T1 over BreezeNET B is provided with one E1/T1 port enabled, but it is possible to enable up to four E1/T1 ports via web or via telnet. For upgrading, Alvarion will provide the requested key.

Documentation
The following are the documentation for the E1/T1 over BreezeNET B: E1/T1 over BreezeNET B User Guide for version 1.0 E1/T1 over BreezeNET B Technical Note for version 1.0 The above document as well as for BreezeNet B equipment can be downloaded from the Alvarion Web.
