For more than 80 years, the architecture and design community has specified products from Hunter Douglas, the world leader in window coverings and a major manufacturer of architectural products such as Ceilings, Faades, Sun Control and NBK Terracotta. Working alongside architects and designers, it has been our mission to continuously engineer technologically advanced yet environmentally friendly products for our end users, the architects and designers, and to help them do what they love to do, which is to create. Indeed, Hunter Douglas was founded on a tradition of bringing breakthrough and innovative products to market. Having supplied architectural products to the previous two terminals, Hunter Douglas was proud to supply the ceilings again for Terminal 3 (T3), the latest extension to Singapores iconic Changi Airport. T3 commenced operations on 9 January 2008. T3 seeks to iterate and re-define the Changi Experience with new interpretations of old paradigms, making Changi Airport to be the standard bearer
for how a multi-terminal airport can offer a unified experience, balancing coherence with vitality and vigour. T3 has brought Singapore into the new millennium with distinctive, contemporary design, enjoying newness and celebrating different styles. For this prestigious project, Hunter Douglas Singapore Pte Ltd supplied 116,700 m2 of ceilings. Mr. Chua Yew Hor, Managing Director of Hunter Douglas Singapore Pte Ltd shared, We are glad to be given the opportunity to participate in this project and to help create the Changi Experience to welcome our overseas visitors and returning Singaporeans. Our products are state-of-the-art engineered. The fact that our products had been installed in Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and now Terminal 3 bear testimonials to the quality and reliability of our products. Although the time schedule for this project was tight, we gave our very best effort to provide fast turn-around and we were able to complete the project within the allotted time schedule.

Plank
The planks are available in widths from 212 up to 800mm and in lengths from 600mm up to 4000mm. Produced on advanced equipment which includes several levelling stages in the process, the high quality precision engineered planks are flat and dimensionally stable. The plank ceilings are available for both interior and exterior applications. The planks are available in electrogalvanised steel, stainless steel or aluminium.
Sound Absorption
Black-faced acoustic pads are available to achieve acoustic absorption. Also non-woven acoustic textile is available which is glued inside the planks automatically during production.
Perforations
Aside from providing acoustic performance characteristics, planks are often perforated for a decorative effect. Perforations are available with open areas ranging from 8% to 50%. Although perforations are primarily positioned for optimum sound control, Luxalon ceiling elements can also be perforated to specific designs, such as an interpretation of a company's logo.
Suspention Systems
There are four major plank suspension systems in the LUXALON ceiling product range: Wide C-grid Hook-on Clip-in Lay-in Wide C-grid The system's suspension structure consists of exposed C-shaped runners which are installed parallel to each other to form continuous main courses. The major advantages are: The possibility to fix partition walls to the strong C-grids.

XL Panels
The monolithic look of the XL Acoustic Ceiling System fit perfectly in large open spaces with a high density of noise like in airports, shopping malls or conference halls. With excellent sound control properties, XL Acoustic Ceiling Panels turn loud environments into spaces with a comfortable interior ambience. There are 2 types of XL panels: Honeycomb panel and Corrugated panel, each having its own individual characteristics.
Honeycomb Panels
In our honeycomb composite technology, two metal skins sandwich an aluminium honeycomb structure that can accommodate high pressures and shear forces. The skin and the honeycomb are connected with high quality adhesives, forming a monolithic mechanical construction.
Advantages:
Developed for the aircraft industry, aluminium honeycomb composites are a perfect combination of light-weight components working together to produce extreme strength.
An exposed wide suspension system which accentuates the grid pattem. Simple and easy access to the plenum. A rigid grid system to ensure a consistently level ceiling. Lay-in The system's suspension structure consists of exposed - or T-sections which are interconnected by means of a simple insert joint to form a supporting grid for the planks. The major advantages are: An exposed suspension system which accentuates the grid pattem. Simple and easy access to the plenum. A rigid grid system to ensure a consistently level ceiling. Hook-on The suspension structure for the Hook-on system consists of a grid system assembled from pre-punched Z-shaped secondary profiles and pre-punched L-shaped primary profiles.
The major advantages are: A hidden suspension system for an uncluttered monolithic ceiling appearance. Ready access into the plenum at any point with no need for special tools. A rigid grid system to ensure a consistently level ceiling. Clip-in This Luxalon suspension system consists of a common 0.5 mm profile, made of galvanised steel, which is used both as the upper primary member as well as the lower secondary member. The major advantages are: A hidden suspension system for an uncluttered monolithic ceiling appearance. Common primary and secondary runners which are easily assembled with rail connectors. A rigid grid system to ensure a consistently level ceiling. The swing-down execution facilitates easy plenum access without having to remove the plank from the suspension system.

Cell Ceilings
Stylish and contemporary, a LUXALON Cell Ceiling creates an open, light and spacious appearance. Cell ceiling models are available in a range of modular cell sizes and colours for exciting ceiling design options. By creating a visual screen, the ceiling grids assist in controlling the proportions and scale of an interior area without placing restrictions on the actual ceiling height and space. Aesthetics and function are brought together in a versatile combination that allows considerable design freedom.
Design Flexibility
Cell Ceiling systems create a spacious appearance ideal for interior designs where open, light constructions are desired. They make it easy to create different modules in one ceiling and are ideal for very small plenum depths. Systems are available as sliding, hookin, swing-down or tile. Modules vary from 17 x 17 mm to 200 x 300 mm. A wide range of colours and finishes are available, and special colours can be provided upon request.
Durability
Manufactured from 0.35, 0.4, 0.5, or 0.6 mm thick prepainted aluminium coil, Cell Ceilings are finished with a polyester paint to provide a long, low-maintenance life. The coating is stove-enameled in a continuous coilcoating process to ensure uniform thickness and absolute adhesion.
Fire Behaviour
All LUXALON metal suspended ceilings are classified A2, s1, d0 according to EN 135011. Hunter Douglas Open Cell creates a ceiling through which large amounts of air and or smoke can be extracted, a distinct advantage in escape routes where the clearest visibility is required.

Wide Panels
Hunter Douglas Wide Panel Ceilings enable the architect to design a closed ceiling with high performance aluminium or steel materials. In order to give maximum freedom in design there is a wide choice in panels with soft edges for a monolithic ceiling appearance or panels with square edges which results in a smooth ceiling with a narrow butt joint.
Design Flexibility
The robust wide panel appearance provides interesting possibilities for spatial room designing. The ceiling panels show a straight L-joint, neat V-joint or a 10 mm wide recessed joint. The panels can be installed as Clip-in, Lay-on, Carrier or C-grid system. The 300 mm wide panels are available up to 6 m length. A range of colours and finishes is standard available and special colours upon request.
Durability
Wide panel ceilings are manufactured from durable roll formed aluminium (0.7 mm) or steel (0.6 mm) coil, finished with a polyester paint to provide a long, low maintenance life. The coating is stove enamelled in a continuous coil coating process ensuring uniform coating thickness and absolute adhesion. For exterior applications aluminium panels with Luxacote finish are available.
Acoustic Performance
In order to improve the acoustic comfort in a room, the ceiling panels can be perforated with a 1.5 or 2 mm round hole. As a standard feature, perforated panels can be supplied with a sound absorbing non woven tissue glued into the panel for enhanced acoustical performance.

Linear Ceillings
LUXALON Linear Ceiling Systems are highly versatile, allowing a variety of innovative interior and exterior visual effects to be achieved. Whether it is the staggering clean flat look of the closed ceilings or the floating ceiling effect of the screens ceilings, they will give a rhythm to any project and make sure the designers' signature is visible. The Linear Ceiling System comprises of the following type: 30BD, 84R/MWti-R, 84B, Foil, 84C/184C, 75C /150C/225C, V100/V200 Screen/Deco, V100/V200 Sliding Screen and 30B/80B/130B/180B. In this project, V100 Screen Ceilings were used.
V100/V200 Screen/Deco
The LUXALON screen ceiling is ideal for visually reducing room height while retaining original room volume. The LUXALON screen ceiling excels at diffusing daylight or artificial light entering from above. At a minimum angle of approximately 45 degrees, the ceiling has a closed appearance.
Flexible By Design
LUXALON ceiling systems offer almost endless design possibilities. Our wide variety of products, colours, and finishes can be combined to create dramatic, high quality ceilings. LUXALON V100/V200 screen ceilings are engineered to dimensionally define the ceiling plane. Consisting of vertically hung, lightweight floating panels, V100/V200 creates unique visual patterns and lines without compromising the sense of a spacious environment. The panels come in either 101 mm high (V100) or 200 mm high (V200) and clip easily to the carrier. The stoveenamelled panels and carriers are lightweight and recyclable. Panels are made to measure and available in any length up to 6000 mm.
Plenum Accessibility
LUXALON V100/V200 screen ceilings mask the plenum while allowing easy access as well as efficient performance of air conditioning, lighting, and sprinkler systems. There is no need to remove the panels to fully access the plenum. However, each panel in the LUXALON V100/V200 screen ceiling system can be easily removed and replaced by hand.
Fire Behaviour
LUXALON metal suspended ceilings are fully tested for reaction to fire, and are classified A2, s1, d0 according to EN 13501-1 and will therefore not contribute to possible fires. When ceilings however need to protect structural integrity of the building, LUXALON ceilings offer a range of practical and tested solutions with regards to fire stability.
