Well Test Design

Well tests measure, under controlled conditions, the
changing pressures/temperatures and fluid properties related to the production of oil, gas and water from a well (or wells) during a given time span. The basic requirements of a well test are: Measuring the gas and liquids produced or injected Controlling and adjusting the flow from the reservoir Measuring the pressures and temperatures using sensitive and accurate downhole instruments Obtaining samples of the reservoir fluids Safely disposing of or storing the well effluent produced during the test Types of well tests include the zero-emission FasTest, shoot and pull tests, drillstem tests, cleanup tests, multi-rate production/injection well tests, reservoir limits tests, early production tests, and interference/pulse tests. For these tests to be reliable and effective, the well test design is critical due to assuring the test objectives are feasible by selecting: Proper completion equipment Pressure gauges having required sensitivity and accuracy Type of well test Drawdown or injection pressures choke sizes Duration of flow and shut-in periods Well Test Design differs from the competition by using the following: Experienced Engineers performing the service Advanced Well/Reservoir Models Analytic and numeric models Horizontal or vertical wellbores Any boundary configuration Linear or radial composite reservoir Limited entry effects Well interference effects Easy to use well test design report

Well Test Design Features

Well Test Design contains the following features contained in a Well Test Design Report Hard copy or electronically read by standard PC software: Well test theoretically modeled using the most complete vertical or horizontal well/reservoir models designed for Optimum test times Optimum flow rates and drawdowns Right equipment suited for job Models with sensitivities to: Wellbore parameters Reservoir parameters Fluid property parameters Recommended test procedures Written step-by-step procedures to properly perform the well test

Well Test Design Benefits

Do not waste test money by neglecting to use the well test design service. A well test that achieves the objectives is not accomplished by accident. A well test design is a planned activity that uses the pre-test well/reservoir information to reduce the risk of wasting test money. By coupling the well test design service with the real-time operations (RTO) service that monitors and analyzes the test data in real-time, the success of a well test is greatly enhanced.
