Course Code: Course Title: Fluid Movers Hours: 30 Calendar Description: This course has been designed to improve the following competences To enhance the knowledge and skills of participating in different types of pumps and compressors. To understand pump and compressor technology and performance. To develop attendees skills and capabilities in operating different types of pumps and compressors. To interpret the function of each machine component. To introduce startup and shat down procedures of each machine This will be achieved through listing the pumps and compressors types, describing the parts, and its function. Study the performance of each machine.

To list the different types of special effect fluid movers ( jet, ejectors,..) and its application 4. To categorize and classify pumping and compression methods. 5. To study the different flow characteristic curves. 6. To select the proper type of pumps or compressors according to the operating conditions. Module 3 Pumps types and components Upon successful completion of this Learning Outcome Guide, you will be able to categorize the different type of pumps and its components 1. To recognize the different types of pumps for different applications (Rotodynamic and positive displacement) 2. To differentiate between several types of positive pumps and its components, pumping method, applications. 3. To know centrifugal pump construction and function of each component. Module 4 Compressors types and components Upon successful completion of this Learning Outcome Guide, you will be able to know different types of compressors and its component function 1. To study Positive displacement compressors types and there construction. 2. To be familiar with rotodynamic ( centrifugal and axial ) compressors and there construction Module 5 Auxiliary systems Upon successful completion of this Learning Outcome Guide, you will be able to describe the auxiliary systems of pumps and compressors 1. To understand the function and operation of lube oil system. 2. To learn the Sealing system

Module 6 Pumps performance and operation Upon successful completion of this Learning Outcome Guide, you will be able to understand the performance of each type of pump and operation procedures. 1. To know about characteristic and system curves. 2. To study Head capacity curve and operating point 3. To measure and control the flow rate 4. To understand the effect of pump speed, impeller diameter, and operating condition. 5. To List the startup and shut down procedures 6. To study series and parallel connection operation. 7. To identify minimum flow and off-design conditions o Module 7 Compressors performance and operation Upon successful completion of this Learning Outcome Guide, you will be able to understand the characteristic performance of different compressor and operation procedures 1.
