Compact Grease Trap

Primary wastewater treatment
Domestic wastewater is released from variety activities of several sources. For example, residential units, office buildings, hotels, fresh markets, restaurants, canteens, kitchens and etc. The characteristic of the wastewater depends on the sources so the primary treatments are necessary before transferring the wastewater to the central treatment. The primary treatment for the wastewater from cooking and meal sources such as restaurants or canteens usually includes food waste screening, grease trap, septic tank and anaerobic filter. Most failures appeared in primary treatment are caused by lacking of maintenance for instance, never or insufficient fat, oil and grease (FOG) removal from grease trap. While the FOG accumulated until over the capacity of greaser trap, the FOG will be flowed into secondary treatment. This causes other following problems such as, pipe clogging, over designed organic loading in secondary treatment and unpleasant fermentation odor. Generally, the BOD and FOG of wastewater from cooking and meal sources is about 1400 and 2700 mg/l respectively. That means higher than normal wastewater from toilet for 7 and 5 times respectively. By correct operation and maintenance, the FOG removal efficiency of BIO TECH grease trap can be reached 50%. So to follow the operation and maintenance in instruction manual is necessary to be done.

Implement of Grease trap

Grease trap is a FOG removal equipment product. FOG contaminated wastewater will be retained in trap chamber for designed retention time. The wastewater will be separated to be 2 layers, the topper is FOG scum layer which is trapped and physically removed, the lower layer is the free FOG wastewater which will be flowed to be treated next step. The FOG removal mechanism is free of any moving machines. The grease trap should be installed nearby the cooking sources.

The FOG removal efficiency depends on wastewater temperature, solid quantity in wastewater, retention time and control of operation and maintenance.

Control of operation and maintenance Biotech Grease trap Type under washing sink and Underground Installed Model GT-BG-Series
Grease trap should be maintained continuously whole along utilization period, especially, daily FOG and sludge removal to prevent clogging and over organic loading. 1. Wastewater from other sources such as, hand washing, bath, laundry, rainfall and etc. are not allowed to be treated in grease trap unless the grease trap required volume must be special large designed. 2. The FOG scum and sludge must be removed daily at least. The scum and sludge should be collected in closed garbage back and sent to the local waste manage organization for final disposal. 3. Check the transfer pipe line (Grease trap other treatment). If there is any FOG film appeared in, scum and sludge removal must be done following the instruction.

I. Food waste Screening at Dish Washing Sink

Food waste screening at dish washing sink is the first step to remove the food waste from the primary treatment

Suggestion, Recommendation
1. Do not take the food waste screening off. 2. Clear and clean the food waste screening before cooking and dish washing. 3. Soup and curry must be separated disposal to prevent the over organic loading.

II. Bio Tech Under washing sink Grease trap model GT Series

Implement
Trap the rest food waste from dish washing and the screening Check the transfer pipe line (Grease trap other treatment). If there is any FOG film appeared in, scum and sludge removal must be done following the instruction Grease trap tank model GT should be installed nearby washing sink or washing machine because the wastewater is still warm and this can prevent and decrease oil and grease clogging in sewage pipe. Leave wastewater with oil and grease in grease4 trap tank for sufficient retention time. Do not throw food waste into grease trap tank. All food waste must be collected in garbage bag to disposal or to make fertilizer.

GT-Series Maintenance
1. Daily take the waste basket off to be cleaned and put the food waste into garbage back. (The food waste will spoiled in 4-6 hours)

2. Remove oil and grease scum 2-3 times a day and put the scum into garbage bag for next step disposal.

1. Wastewater from other sources such as, hand washing, bath, laundry, rainfall and etc. are not allowed to be treated in grease trap unless the grease trap required volume must be special large designed. 2. The high efficiency of oil & grease separation from wastewater can be done by the scraped of oil, grease and scum at lease once a day. The scraped scum must be contained in container or cover bag for final disposal. 3. Check the transfer pipe line (Grease trap other treatment). If there is any FOG film appeared in, scum and sludge removal must be done following the instruction.

4. The used oil doesnt permit to flush directly to sink or BG tank.
