Worship at Crown College

ST.BONIFACIUS, Minn. Crown students are being blessed for the opportunity to have chapel four times a week. However, there has been some students that think chapel songs are too traditional, and some think they are secular concerts. Worship is done in chapel with songs but overall during every step of our lives. Keldon Ellis, the organizer of chapel ministry, tells us more in depth the importance of worship. Keldon emphasized that worship at Crown happens every day, all day. From the time when we wake up, we have the Bible studies in the dorms, to prayer meetings in the Chapel, to the conversations among friends, to the hard work students pour into their studies, to the corporate gatherings we have in the gym; worship is always happening at Crown College. In our chapel planning meetings, we work hard to prepare service elements that the Crown community will resonate with, and find it easy to engage with the Lord. We do understand that we will not please everyone all the time. However, we also understand that the highest goal of the chapel ministry is not to provide entertainment for students.

Instead, our goal is to provide an excellent, creative, Biblically sound opportunity for the community to genuinely commune with God. Not everyone will always like what we provide, but thats ok. We have been blessed to receive edifying feedback over the course of the year. There have been a couple of chapels in which the volume was either too loud or too quiet for some individuals personal tastes - part of the fun of being in a gym But the individuals who expressed concern were very gracious and understanding, said organizer of chapel, Keldon Ellis. Ellis brings a refreshing message to Crown students as he began to share his opinion of true worship with his experience as leading worship at Crown. He explains that true worship is worshipping God in spirit and truth. This means that we are ready to lay down our pride, our ambitions, our entertainment, our selfishness, and receive what God is revealing to us, as we offer our heart to him. It means that a real thing is happening: people are engaging with the Lord, and his Holy Spirit is changing us to become more like him. Crown College is a unique place to worship God because the community is collectively ready to engage with the Lord. Ellis highlighted as a worship leader, Crown College is one of the easiest places to lead worship because the student body, staff, and faculty are so hungry and thirsty to worship our Savior Jesus Christ. ###
