[JKELMI] Jammu & Kashmir Electrical Licensing & Management Institute

Foreword by: Er. Manzoor Ahmed Salroo

The future economy depends on improved business
performance, which in turn relies to great extent on
the competence of our engineers and technicians.
The Jammu & Kashmir has a proud engineering
heritage, but in an increasingly competitive world our
engineering competence must reflect the needs of
business and industry for astute and experienced creators and
managers of technology.
Engineers also have a more important role than ever, as technology
and the demand which we make of it become increasingly complex, in
ensuring that development takes place in a way which does not cause
problems for safety or our health. They have an equally crucial part to
play in minimizing risk to environment, and in bringing about
sustainable development, not only in the Jammu & Kashmir but
through out the nation.
The Inspection agency has well versed system but it need to modify its
structure and more autonomous to make our own standards and
manpower well be more efficient for the future development of the
state, in the field of electricity. Two Institutes will be established in the
Kashmir and Jammu provinces separately to make equal developments
in both sectors.
I am particularly pleased that the unique and vital contribution of the
Engineers and technicians to our system and well being has been
recognized in these standards.
At lost but not least I think government will be considering this project
proposal for development of future systems and safety.
The Inspection agency has much engagement and has a watch on the
system .I want one part of this circle will crated as Institute and will be
given autonomous status so this body will upgrade the manpower to

the standard so that our engineer and technicians really contrast with
other engineers and technicians through out world.
Beside of that this Institute shall become a foundation for documental
research and a forum for debates. As our department [Power
Development Department] is lacking in the field of fundamental
management at all most in all levels, it is not only need of time but
also we had many examples regarding this system at national levels
are National Institute of Power.

Professional
Development
Many potential professional Engineers
/Technicians will not have had the
advantage of formal training, and will
need to demonstrate they have acquired
the necessary competences through
extended experience, some of this
supervised. In some cases employers will
make use of occupational standards in
determining job descriptions and for
general staff development .Evidence of
employer recognition of competences and
relevant skills will assist in achieving
registration.
The value of formal
education and training
In order to gain the competences
necessary for registration, a period of
training and experience will have been
undertaken. To make understanding the
knowledge/theory it is must to have a
basic formal education and training to
achieve the status of the competencies.
