Procedures for lesson: -TTW review the chapter vocabulary with the students. -TTW orally quiz the students on the landforms that they learned the previous day. -TSW complete their Landforms book. -The teacher and class will discuss why people use maps and the different kinds of maps people use. -TTW model for the students how to read a map and map key. -TSW then practice reading landforms and water on a map.

Procedures for lesson: -TTW activate the students prior knowledge of pen pals. -The teacher and class will brainstorm what life would be like near a desert, on an island, and on a farm. -The class will read together pen pal letters from three different places. -After the students have read the letters, they will work with a partner to compare and contrast two of the three places that were studied on a Venn Diagram. -The teacher and class will discuss their Venn

They will imagine that they are a young Native American boy or girl and write about their lives. TSW center their story around a geographic landform.
