Contraindication Use of sodium ascorbate in patients on sodium restriction; use of calcium ascorbate in patients receiving digitalis. Safety during pregnancy (category C) or lactation is not established.
Nursing Consideration Take large doses of vitamin C in divided amounts because the body uses only what is needed at a particular time and excretes the rest in urine Megadoses can interfere with absorption of vitamin B12. Note: Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron when taken at the same time as ironrich foods.

Nursing Consideration BEFORE: Determine reticulocyte count, hct, Vit. B12, iron, folate levels before beginning therapy. Obtain a sensitivity test history before administration Avoid I.V. administration bec. faster systemic elimination will reduce effectiveness of vitamin. DURING: Dont give large doses of vitamin B12 routinely; drug is lost through excretion. Dont mix parenteral preparation in same syringe with other drugs. AFTER: Protect Vit. B12 from light. Dont
refrigerate or freeze. Monitor patient for hypokalemia for first 48 hours, as anemia correct itself.

Contraindication Should not be given to patients with drug induced liver disease.
Nursing Consideration Assess laboratory examinations. Monitor liver/renal function. Instruct patient that compliance with dosage schedule for duration is necessary to gain benefits. Caution patient in alcohol while in therapy may increase risk of liver damage. Tell patient to report peripheral neuritis.

Assess patients condition before therapy and regularly

Mode of Action Calmoseptine Ointment is an analgesic, antiseptic, antipruritic, and skin protectant combination. It works by temporarily relieving itching and pain. It also decreases moisture in the affected area.
Indication Preventing and treating minor skin irritations (eg, caused by cuts, scrapes, minor burns, perspiration, itching, wound drainage).
Contraindication you are allergic to any ingredient in Calmoseptine Ointment you are treating a deep wound or puncture wound
Side effect Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).
Nursing Consideration for external use only. Do not get it in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you get it in any of these areas, rinse at once with cool water. Do not use Calmoseptine Ointment to treat deep wounds or puncture wounds.
