Mission: The Peer Leadership Consultants (PLCs) are a diverse group of students who provide assistance to all KU student organizations and communities. Our purpose is to provide services, programs, and resources necessary for positive leadership growth and development of KU student organizations and other on-campus student groups. Working in conjunction with the Student Involvement & Leadership Center (SILC), the PLCs will aid you and your organization in reaching its full potential. The PLC program has been operating for three years. A total of up to 4 more students will be selected for this position; some returning and some new. You will serve as a peer mentor to campus organizations and departments by providing information and activities aimed at developing leadership. As a peer leadership consultant you will: 1. Serve as a representative for the Student Involvement and Leadership Center by giving presentations, facilitating team builders and icebreakers, and helping lead and develop other programs and services. 2. Maintain a facilitation manual for yourself and future Peer Leadership Consultants. This manual includes activities, programs, icebreakers, teambuilders, etc. 3. Manage our leadership activity closet and library. This includes creating and following a protocol for checking out equipment, learning materials, and other items to group and departments who wish to use them. 4. Assist in the marketing of the Peer Leadership Consultant program. 5. Assist in managing the PLC e-mail, calendar, and social media outlets. 6. Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Other Information: We will meet every week for training and preparation of upcoming facilitations.
Interviews will be scheduled May 1st and 2nd. Applicants will be notified of their status by May 2nd, and those chosen will need to attend a meeting on May 3rd at noon.
