The central statement of the Jewish faith, (is) the Shema: "Shema Yisrael, YHVH Eloheinu, YHVH echad Hear Israel, YHVH is Our God, YHVH is One," declares that hearing is the quintessentially sacred act for Jews. Paradoxically, the name for God used in the Shema is precisely the one Name that cannot be spoken; it is ineffable. Since YHVH is an impossible declension of the verb to be collapsing past, present, and future tenses into one unpronounceable Name it is as if Jews are being exhorted to listen for the Presence of Being through infinite forms in time and space...this is not only hearing as we hear sounds with our ears. It is hearing with the heart (1 Kings 3:9)... ( From Holy Listening: Cultivating a Hearing Heart, Barbara Breitman Emphasis mine). One of four key passages written in their phylateries with capital letters at the beginning and the end of the reference. Said in the morning and evening - from the Cradle to the Grave..... Some have described this as the Jews Most Powerful Prayer - Dt 6:5 Mark 12:28-31 Shema Hear - LISTEN - Pay attention * While I am not ready to make sweeping statements yet I must say that I believe that the reality of the Christian life is lived out in the listening....hearing the Voice! In the Voice God made plan His leadership.... How much time do we give to deliberately learning what to listen...?? Meditation Hebrew word for Meditation = to mutter Quit literally repeat over and over invite us to employ Describe the Meditation Model and now lets do this.....Psalm 100 15 minutes now what did the Lord say? Biblical Intercession begins with this.....shema....Hear.... The next reality I want to point towards is equally as poweful! Basis of Biblical intercession is the Character and Nature of God! Religion will always call attention to what we need to do or have not done. The Gospel will always be the declaration of of what He has already done.

* Now that does not mean that we do nothing....it means that we cease from our labor and join into His labor! I want to live in a continual place of repentance...that is to change my mind to agree with what you have done. To let my life declare the Kingdom is here! So in the gospel this mystery is revealed who who I am - that I am growing in my understanding of all that I already am in my true identity....and calling. Understanding this position changes our understanding of intercession and prayer...... Not praying or working For Favor From Favor....it is indeed the year of the Lords Favor! John 1:13....children of God....and that is what we are.... invited to live in this reality of partnership with an eternal God in the Tension of our current experience.... Matt 6 - knows our needs.....this is how you should pray...stunning Luke 11 and Luke 18 I want to look at Numbers 14 and the Intercession of Moses..... I was studying the Glory of God...came to this passage again and I was just taken back again by the reality of this passage. Here is Moses...we call the great intercessor.... God I want to be an intercessor like Moses..... Look at the text.....as I looked I was fascinated by these powerful realities.... The basis of Moses intercession was not about man...but God...His character and His words and His faithfulness among his people.... This is not Moses saying....ohhh God....negotiating...as some have implied...the entire intercession is about God. 1. Moses intercession Based in the Revelation of Gods Character * This is how you are known....God who is present - in the midst.... * See you .... eye to eye * You are not a distant God....! 2. Based in the Declaration of Gods Character! * First this is how you are known.... * This is who you have said you are.... * Let your Power be great....just as you have declared..... * Moses Connection of Gods power was to His Character! Vs 19 Pardon according....to the greatness of your loving kindness...!!! 3. Moses intercession Based in the Demonstrated Faithfulness of His Character! * Just as you also have forgiven this people....from Egypt until now! And the secret is simply this Christ in you! This is bold intercession....not about volume, human zeal....based upon the eternal purpose, intent and heart of God! Power of these words of intercession! 1. Moses Gods response. * I have pardoned.....them according to your word..... STUNNING! * Not just pardoned.....but here comes the Big declaration My Glory....will cover the Earth! That....will cover the earth..... John 1:14-18 2 Cor 3:18 Here is my paraphrase of Gods response to Moses.... You listened.....you agreed with me....above the clamor and the conflict.... You get to partner and know my glory that you saw will cover the earth.... 2. Israel * * * *

Same God Vs 22 ...have not listened..... As you have spoken so it will be ..... What is the judgment of God.....( he has placed all judgment on His son) .....demonstrates it is normally to let us be judged by our own desires...and demands....

What does this mean ? 1. First job of intercession....- Shema - listen 1 Cor 2:12 .. spirit...so that we know the things freely given to us by God... 1 Cor 12:16 we have the mind of Christ...bind our mind to his...listen 2. Basis of our words in intercession is Agreement with who He is! Character...and what He has done 'And we all, with new understanding, see ourselves in Him as in a mirror; thus we are changed from an inferior mind set to the revealed opinion of our true Origin.' Corinthians 3:18 - Mirror Translation 'They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiselled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We're free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face.' Corinthians 3:17, 18 The Message And the secret is simply this Christ in you!
