Nissan LEAF can be charged at home , at work or at any publicly accessible charging station

There is more to owning a Nissan LEAF than zero emissions. Whether your LEAF is a personal car, a company car or part of a fleet, there are substantial benefits to be had.
Lower Running Costs Nissan LEAFs running costs are a fraction of a conventional car. LEAF costs just 2p*a per mile, compared to 13p per mile for a similar sized petrol vehicle. Annual fuel costs for LEAF are from as little as 186 per annum, whereas a 50mpg diesel will cost 1,306 per annum and a 50mpg petrol 1,262 per annum*b
High MPG LEAF has an equivalent 339mpg vs a petrol car and 351mpg vs a diesel car*c No VED Due to LEAFs zero emissions it is exempt from paying any road fund licence. No Congestion Charge Nissan LEAF is exempt from the congestion charge making it an ideal commuters car. Potential savings are up to 9 every time you commute into central London. If thats every day its a saving of up to 1800*d every year.

There are three main charging options

Public Charge Point - Approximately 12 hours charge time from empty Home Charge Unit - Approximately 8 hours charge time from empty Public Rapid Charge - Approximately 30 minutes (from empty to 80% charge)

Simply plug your vehicle into a charge point using the EVSE lead provided with the vehicle, or using the tethered cable attached to a rapid charge point or approved Home Charge Unit

For charging solutions at your place of business, we recommend consulting with VINCI Energies, our corporate partner. www.vinci-energies.co.uk
Lower Insurance Premiums LEAF enjoys an insurance rating of 21 out of 50 and insurance premiums lower than competitors such as similarly sized hybrids. Check with your insurer to nd out how much you can save. No Benefit in Kind Nissan LEAF drivers pay zero BIK until at March 2015, compared to hybrid drivers who at present have to pay a BIK rate of 10%. Helping Employers Not only does Nissan LEAF have low running costs, but eet vehicles can help employers save even more money. 100% of Nissan LEAF purchases can be written down against your capital allowance in the rst year and there is no National Insurance to pay either.

Nissan recommend that for safe and convenient home charging, an approved Home Charging Unit should be installed. Our Home Charging partner, British Gas, offers a free home inspection report on your property and will advise and work with you in regards to installing a home charging solution for your Nissan LEAF

EV Myths

Myth 1 - Electric Vehicles are slow From a standing start, the Nissan LEAF instantly delivers 280Nm of torque to respond faster than a conventional 2.5-litre V6 engine, delivering 0-62mph in 11.9 seconds and a top speed of over 90mph.

Myth 6 - Electric Vehicles are small Rather than converting a petrol or diesel engined car to run on electricity, the LEAF was designed as an electric car from the groundup. This has allowed us to cleverly position the battery to allow for more space inside the cabin giving you ve seats and ve doors, as well as a boot size of 330 litres.

Myth 2 - Electric Vehicles have limited range Myth 7 - Electric Vehicles are unsafe The Nissan LEAF with a full charge can take you up to 109 miles1. LEAF also tells you how far you can travel before your next charge and where the nearest charging stations are. As the average journey in Britain is only 8.4 miles, and 95% of journeys are less than 25 miles2, youre unlikely to need a top up. LEAF also comes with ECO mode; this decreases the power output and the auto A/C setting and increases the usage range of the regenerative brakes which all increase the range. LEAF has a ve-star Euro NCAP safety rating, the rst electric vehicle to be awarded such, making it one of the safest vehicles in Europe. Nissans battery uses a spinel-structured manganese for stability and safety, and the laminated structure of the lithium-ion battery controls heat emissions. Each battery cell is monitored by electronic sensors to ensure safe use, and the robust packaging of the battery modules have been engineered to optimise passive safety in the event of impact.

Myth 3 - Electric Vehicles require long recharge times

Myth 8 - Electric Vehicles still pollute as much as conventional cars because electricity is generated by burning coal
It actually only takes about ten seconds to charge your car, ve seconds to plug it into your wall box at home in the evening, and ve seconds to unplug it in the morning3. We expect most drivers will return home with about 20% of charge still left, which means they will actually only need ve to six hours for a full recharge. Most customers will either charge at home overnight or in the ofce during working hours. Customers on the move can take advantage of rapid chargers which charge from empty to 80% capacity in around 30 minutes.

The electricity grid is more than 52% cleaner than petrol or diesel in its dirtiest form. Unlike gasoline which will retain the same properties over time, the electrical grid is also working to become cleaner, tapping into alternative forms of power such as wind or solar to create the electricity needed for electric vehicles. Also, the efciency of an electric engine is much higher than an internal combustion engine (an electric car can drive around 60km with the energy equivalent to one litre of gasoline), having a huge impact on the energy consumption.

Myth 4 - There is very little public charging

Myth 9 - The electricity grid cannot cope with Electric Vehicles

In the UK, there are currently 2,500 charging points that are live, with a further 500 installed and in the process of being turned on shortly. This gure grows every day, with 10,000 charging points expected to be installed by end of 2013 and growing to 25,000 by 20164. In comparison, there are currently just under 8,5005 petrol stations in the UK, meaning that, wherever you are, there will always be a charging station you can get to. To see where your nearest charging points are, visit https://www.zap-map.com/ indexnissan.php.

If there were ten million electric vehicles on the road, the annual needs to charge all of these cars would represent approximately one per cent of annual electricity output in Europe.
Additional Information 1. Driving range indicative only, based on the New European Driving Cycle urban driving test which is without heating or air conditioning. Actual driving range is inuenced by topography, speed, driving style, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

Myth 5 - Electric Vehicles are expensive The Nissan LEAF is priced in-line with internal combustion engine vehicles of similar size and spec, and with attractive nance offers, it is easy to afford. The low running costs of LEAF mean that customers can enjoy substantial savings compared to other vehicles. To see how much, and what kind of savings these are, please visit our cost of ownership page on www.nissan.co.uk/leaf

2. Of all trips made in 2009, 20% were less than one mile in length and 95% were less than 25 miles. National Travel Survey 2010, Department for Transport (www2.dft.gov.uk/pgr/statistics/datatablespublications/nts/ latest/nts2009-03.pdf). 3. Nissans recommended method of home charging is via an approved Home Charging Unit, which provides the quickest, most convenient and reassuring way to charge at home. Nissan suggests that you do not charge your LEAF using a domestic three-pin socket without rst having an electrical inspection, which we can offer free of charge. Nissan LEAF customers are entitled to one free electrical inspection at their chosen location. Ask your nearest Nissan LEAF dealer for further details. 4.
