FOREST INFORMATION UPDATE VOL. 14 NO.

4 April 2013 Welcome to this edition of FIU Welcome to this edition of Forest Information Update. Please find below our latest batch of articles, listing, meetings and web sites for the natural resource sector. A couple of items of interest included an article about the implications for the trade in non-resource products of national resource exports. This article finds how trading raw resources impact economies and manufacturing exports. Another article tells how throwing money at natural resource developments for the wrong reason can be an illusory form of economic development. See these articles in the Classifications section. Also, the latest edition of the Southern Hemisphere Forest Industry Journal is out and, with UPM going into Mozambique, the discussion is around Forestry outcomes all about investment aspirations. http://www.southem.com/2013/04/forestry-outcomes-all-about-the-aspirations/ FIU can also be viewed at the Web site at: Kind regards Mike Smith, Editor and Director info@southem.com INTRODUCTION Forest Information Update (FIU) is a free monthly email newsletter sent to people interested in the inventory and monitoring of natural resources and reaches about 22,000 natural resource specialists and other recipients worldwide.
