ACCREDITATION/MEMBERSHIPS
Chinese International School is registered with the Hong Kong Government's Education Bureau and accredited by ECIS (European Council of International Schools) and NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges). The school is a member of The College Board, NACAC (National Association of College Admission Counselors), OACAC (overseas division of NACAC), CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education), EARCOS (East Asia Regional Council of Schools), ECIS (European Council of Independent Schools) and NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools).
THE FACULTY
Chinese International School has 181 full-time faculty and professional staff members and 6 part time, of whom hold 187 advanced certicates or graduate degrees. Teachers come from Africa, Australia, China, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
YEARS 10 - 11:
All students now follow the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP), studying a common curriculum of 8 core subjects plus one optional subject. Assessment is by internally marked and externally moderated coursework. Prior to 2004, students selected 7-8 courses from the two-year IGCSE (International General Certicate of Secondary Education) University of Cambridge Local Examination Scheme: Art! Computer Studies! Co-ordinated Sciences! Chinese Literature! Chinese Language! Education Design & Technology ! Drama! English Language! English Literature! French! Geography History Mathematics Music Physical
YEARS 12 - 13:
All students pursue a course of study in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), selecting three Higher Level subjects and three Standard subjects, along with the required Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) projects, and the four-thousand word Extended Essay (personal research project).
Students completed their DP Examinations in May of Year 13, with nal results available in early July. All Year 12-13 complete Physical Education courses.

GRADING SYSTEM
Beginning August 2001, the Secondary School adopted the International Baccalaureate (IB) seven point grading scale (1-7) as the only grading system for Year 7 through Year 13. This 1-7 scale is used by the IB Organization in grading students for the Diploma as well as the Middle Years Program. Grades of 1-7 are used for all internal assessment, external examinations, and transcripts.

*CISs Chinese Program - Clarifying our IB results Our few native Mandarin speaking students are only allowed to enroll in Chinese A Literature and Chinese A Language and Literature courses at both Higher and Standard leverls. Non-native Mandarin speakers largely enroll in either Chinese B at Standard or Higher level or in Chinese ab initio. A few highly procient non-native Mandarin students participate in Chinese A courses.
