1. Course Objectives
This course is designed to provide knowledge, skills, and strategies needed for effective communication to achieve professional goals. Students will learn the foundations of business communications, and sharpen skills such as non-verbal communication, intercultural communication, communicating in teams, writing business messages, designing and giving presentations, and employment communication. The class will challenge students to think, make decisions, create, and communicate ideas. Students will have opportunities to analyze interesting communication cases and a variety of up-todate sample business situations and learn how to adapt their communication skills with practical assignments like those that students will most often face at work.

Chapter quizzes due at the end of each chapter Group presentations: one before the midterm, one after the midterm Exams: midterm and final exams

6. Notes
Attendance Policy: Late: student is not seated and prepared for class when attendance is being called (3 lates = 1 absent) Absent: student is more than 30 minutes late If you are absent, you are responsible for getting the class information and assignments If you are absent on your presentation day, you will receive no points for that presentation Students will be given only ONE excused absence during the semester Make-up Policy: There are no make ups for tests. If you miss a test, you will receive no score for that test. Cheating Policy: Cheating will not be tolerated. Any student caught cheating on any test, homework assignment, or paper will not receive a grade. Late Assignment Policy: All work and quizzes must be handed in on time. Late assignments will not receive a grade. English-only Policy: English must be spoken at all times during the class Grading Policy:

Grades will be given based on the work each student has earned during the semester and allocated according the Ewha grading system. Grades will not be changed under any circumstances. If you have a problem with the Ewha grading system, please contact the administration.
