Introduction
In this practice Packet Tracer Skills Exam, you will: finish connecting the devices configure a Linksys device to provide access to both wired and wireless clients verify and troubleshoot full connectivity to the Internet

Addressing Table
Device WR1 WAN Interface WR1 LAN Interface DHCP Settings NetAdmin File Server PC1 PC2 172.16.1.1 172.16.1.151 172.16.1.175 172.16.1.10 172.16.1.20 DHCP Assigned DHCP Assigned DHCP Assigned DHCP Assigned DHCP Assigned DHCP Assigned 255.255.255.0 n/a IP Address Subnet Mask Gateway

Step 1: Connect the Devices.

a. Use a straight-through cable to connect the Internet interface on the Linksys router to the cable modem. b. Connect NetAdmin to an available interface on the Linksys router. NOTE: Do not connect cables to PC1 and PC2. These devices connect wirelessly.

Step 2: Configure the NetAdmin PC.

a. Configure NetAdmin with the correct IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server. The DNS server is 192.0.0.1. b. From the command prompt on NetAdmin, ping WR1, the default gateway.

Step 3: Configure the Linksys Router.

a. You will not be able to access WR1 by clicking on it. Instead, use the web browser on NetAdmin to connect to WR1. Currently, WR1 uses the default admin as the username and password. b. The WAN interface uses the highest (last) host IP address in the subnet 198.133.219.0 with the subnet mask 255.255.255.0. The default gateway for the WR1 WAN interface is the lowest (first) host IP address. Configure the following:

IP address subnet mask default gateway DNS 1 = 192.0.0.1

c. Activate DHCP on the LAN interface and create a pool that will deliver a maximum of 25 addresses from the 172.16.1.0/24 subnet starting at 172.16.1.151. d. Configure 192.0.0.1 as the first static DNS address. e. Change the default SSID to discovery. The SSID is case-sensitive.

Step 4: Connect the Wireless PCs.

a. Configure PC1 to connect wirelessly to WR1. PC1 should be able to ping WR1 and the Cisco server at www.cisco.com. Troubleshoot any issues. DNS resolution in Packet Tracer may take up to 30 seconds the first time you ping the Cisco server. b. Configure PC2 to connect wirelessly to WR1. PC2 should be able to ping WR1 and the Cisco server at www.cisco.com. Troubleshoot any issues. NOTE: Make sure PC1 and PC2 have received full IP addressing. It may be necessary to release and renew the IP configuration.

Step 5: Configure and Verify Wireless Security.

a. Allow for remote access to WR1 with the following case-sensitive password: cisco123 b. Use the case-sensitive password 12345ABCDE to configure WR1 with WEP authentication. c. Configure PC1 and PC2 to re-associate to the wireless network. It may be necessary to release and renew the IP configuration. d. Verify full connectivity between LAN devices and from LAN devices to the Cisco server at www.cisco.com. For example, the following pings should be successful. NetAdmin can ping PC1. PC2 can ping www.cisco.com.

Step 6: Verify and Troubleshoot Connectivity.

Identify and correct any faults that prevent connectivity. Verify that all devices have connectivity to each other and the Cisco server at www.cisco.com.
