Option 1:- Free & Easy Downloads from NPTEL website
Download Procedure: Ensure that you have broadband connectivity and browsers like Firefox, IE 8 onwards,Safari etc. Please go to the website http://nptel.iitm.ac.in Go to the course of interest. If it is a PDF, then do a "File-> Save as" in the browse menu and save file to your local machine. In case of other formats, mark the section of text required and copy into your local machine. We are working on providing downloads as PDF, for HTML lectures also. For the new courses there is a link as Course downloads, from which handouts, assignments, lecture notes, others can be downloaded by clicking the links provided.

Video Courses-136+

Under the "download" tab, all the lectures of that course are listed. Every lecture can be downloaded in MP4 or 3GP format. The size of the download is also indicated. Click on the mirror links provided, to start download. For the new courses there is a link as Course downloads, from which handouts, assignments, lecture notes, others can be downloaded by clicking the links provided.

Option 2:- VPN bandwidth

For Government subsidised VPN bandwidth, please contact Mission Secretariat, NMEICT, Ministry of HRD, Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi. Email: pm.nmeict.pi@gmail.com (or) dgmofchyd@gmail.com (BSNL, Hyderabad) On obtaining the bandwidth, register your institute in http://nptel.iitm.ac.in/institutes/. Please note that this is to be done only after obtaining the bandwidth. Institutes who registered without the NMEICT bandwidth would not be able to download directly from VPN.

Option3:- Videos from YouTube

NPTEL Video lectures are also available on http://www.youtube.com/iit , from which also you can download by using any browser add-ons.

Option 4:- Copy in hard disk Web Course 125 + & Video Courses-136+
Procedure: Please bring a letter from the head of your institution requesting for NPTEL contents along with 2 hard disks(One-2TB + One-1TB ): One-2TB external hard disk for Phase - I courses and One-1TB external hard disk for Phase - II courses, to NPTEL office at IIT Madras, Webstudio, 3rd Floor, IC & SR Building, IIT Madras, Chennai-600036. The letter should mention the serial code of the hard disk also. The Copyright form, duly signed by the head of individual institution must also be given at the time of request. Copyright form is available in last page of this document.

 We shall copy the web and video courses available till date, into the hard disk. Copying the NPTEL web and video courses into your hard disk, would take about a week. Individual institutions shall be responsible for delivery and pick up of hard disk from NPTEL office, IIT Madras. Pick up date will be indicated at the time of your request in person. The Institute / Industry representative(s) must find his/her own accommodation if he/she wishes to stay and collect the hard disk in person. The copying is a one-time free service for providing the master files. New courses and updates will be available only from the NPTEL website. Individual institutions are requested to download them from the NPTEL website and not request IIT Madras to send any updates. There are no charges for availing this service.
