Blanca Robles 4/20/12 Lesson Plan #1 Objective: Students will be able to identify and construct adjectives.

Grade: 3rd Materials: Paper Pencils Drawing utensils Adjectives W/S YouTube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbgZfQNBFS0 Procedure: 1. Remind students that yesterday we learned about nouns. Ask: What is a noun? 2. Have students give examples of the nouns they talked about the previous day. 3. Now say, Today we will be learning about adjectives. Adjectives are words that describe a noun. Adjectives can tell you the color, shape, material, mood, features, compare, categorize, etc. 4. Give various examples of an adjective. 5. Once students have understood what an adjective is, show School House Rock Video. 6. Assign students partners, and have them fill out the work sheet. Review as a class. (guided Practice) 7. Independent practice: Students will be assigned a noun (from the list made at the beginning of the lesson). Students are to come up with an adjective that describes it. Students will then write a sentence with the noun and adjective and then draw a picture of it. Assessment: Students will be assessed by the partner activity (informal), as well as the independent activity (formal). Independent activity must include the following: adjective, adjective used in a sentence correctly, and accurate drawing.
