Has anyone been there? If you have, please discuss what you saw with your neighbor.

4. On the whiteboard, do KWL chart Lets talk about what we know. What do you want to learn about Mount Rushmore? 5. Use smart board to show second video of short facts about Mount Rushmore. 6. Do vocabulary activity. Each student will be given a card. On one card will be the vocabulary word, and on another card will be the definition. 7. Students must find the partner that has the other part, which is a picture. The cards will be cut at the end so when the right partner is found, the cards will match. 8. Have students return to their seats and pass out handout of coloring activity on Mount Rushmore to each student. 9. Students will color paper and add the names of each president on Mount Rushmore, and write 2-3 sentences about what they learned. 10. CLOSURE: Using whiteboard, review presidents shown on Mount Rushmore. Complete L part of KWL to check for understanding. F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? I will use the KWL chart to measure student understanding, along with the coloring page correctly labeled with each presidents name, and the sentences they write to show what they learned. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. Students must write about traditional patriotic activities, holidays, or symbols from around the world. Correctly labeling each president, and writing about what they learned will show if they understand the concepts. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? The easiest part will be showing the videos, and discussing what we just watched. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think the vocabulary activity will be a little challenging because students will have to search to try to match the correct cards together.

3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? I could extend this lesson by teaching lessons on the four presidents on Mount Rushmore and their contributions to America. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For the students who dont grasp the concept, we will review the KWL chart to go over key facts that we learned from the videos. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I think I would change the coloring activity because it is not challenging enough. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? I couldnt find a lesson that I liked to teach about Mount Rushmore, so I looked up videos and then tried to come up a lesson that teaches why Mount Rushmore is important in America. I had a hard time deciding what to do for an assessment, and I found a worksheet at education.com that I thought would be good to use. After reading the lesson, I dont really like just using the coloring sheet as an assessment, so I think having students write a few sentences to describe what they learned will give a better gauge of their understanding.
