* The verb form in the third person singular (he, she, it) carries an s in the affirmative, sometimes we add es and others there are changes in the spelling: run>runs, love>loves watch>watches, wash>washes study>studies, try>tries; but no change in play>plays, or prey>preys when there is a vowel before the y. ** The negative form is do + not: I do not study = I dont study. (Both are correct) We use does + not for the third person singular: He does not study = He doesnt study. We dont write the s in the verb: He doesnt writes.

SHORT ANSWERS:
Yes, I do. / No, I dont. Yes, he does. / No, he doesnt.

The main use of the Present Simple Tense is to talk about HABITS and ROUTINES. I get up at 7 oclock every morning. She drives to her office every day. He doesnt come here very often. The news usually starts at 6.00 every evening. Do you usually have bacon and eggs for breakfast? TIME WORDS: Everyday Every month (every + ) On Mondays Once a month, twice a week, etc. Frequency Adverbs:
POSITION OF THE FREQUENCY ADVERBS:

1. Before the Verb: I never eat snails. She doesnt always come by car.

2. After the Verb To BE: She is always late. We are never on time.

FACTS and GENERAL TRUTHS.

Water freezes at 0 C or 32 F. The Thames flows through London. The sun rises in the east. We have two children. What does this expression mean?
FUTURE FACTS, usually found in a timetable.

Christmas Day falls on a Monday this year. The plane leaves at 5.00 tomorrow morning. Ramadan doesn't start for another 3 weeks. Does the class begin at 10 or 11 this week?

THOUGHTS and FEELINGS.

I like listening to music. She loves playing tennis. They don't agree with us. I think you are right. She doesn't want you to do it. Do you understand what I am trying to say? We dont write these verbs in the Present Continuous.
