Wewerehooked. Theintentionwasverynoblefromthedevelopedcountrysperspectiveitwasto increasetheliteracyrateofalldevelopingcountriesbybuildinginhousecapacity. Allthesebrilliantstudentswilleventuallyservetoimprovethequalityoflifeoftheir ownpeopleaftercompletingthecoursebyreturningtotheircountry. Butthehiddenagendawastrulysecret. Ateamofextraordinarytalentedpeoplefromthedevelopedworldwereworking dayandnighttoputtherealintentionundertheglamorouscoveroftheir ImmigrationPolicy.Thisbehindthesceneworkwastotallyunknowntoallofus untilwebecamepartoftheAustralianconspiracyin1989andbeyond! Wewerehookedagain.Huntedbythehunter,trappedbytheslavecatchervery timely. WewereofferedanimmigrationvisainDecember2008andatimetoreach AustraliaandstartthedreamlifebyMay1989.Wehadtowaitfewmonthsin ThailandduetothebirthofourfirstdaughterKishoree.Evenaftergoingthrough theexperienceofthebirthofourfirstchild,wewerestillsoattractedbythe campaignoftheAustraliangovernmentthatfinallylandedinMelbourneonthe29 April1989withatwomonthsoldbaby. July2012,threeweeksago,inaCanberrasocialgathering,oneofmyfriends, anotherseniorofficialworkingwithstatisticalfactsandfiguresatthehighestlevelof AustralianGovernmenthadexpressedhisconcernsaboutmytheoryofconspiracy. Again,Ihavenotarguedwithhimasheobviouslyhaddifferentexperienceasa migrantthanme.HehadstrongpointsandIhadtoagreetheywerevalidpoints fromhisownperspectiveandIhadtorespectthat. However,whenIcontinuedmyresearchonmigrationanditslinktoslavery,itwas veryinterestingformetofindthatIamnotalone! TheSouthernPovertyLawCenter,USAanonprofitcivilrightsorganisation dedicatedtofightinghateandbigotry,andtoseekingjusticeforthemostvulnerable membersofoursocietyincludingdisadvantagedimmigrants. Farmworkerswhowereroutinelycheatedoutoftheirpaybyasubsidiaryof oneofAmericaslargestandbestknownfoodcompanies. Thistypeofexploitationisexperiencedbyimmigrantsandmigrantworkersevery dayastheystriveforopportunityinacountrythatwelcomestheircheaplabourbut recoilsattheirpresenceandfailstoprotecttheirrights.
