COLLEGE OF MAGIC, MYSTERY and ADVENTURE Conversational Topics and Stories

Speak about what you know ! Use your Imagination! Speak More! Have Fun Doing it!

BY Thomas A. Dyer

INTRODUCTION Speaking can be used a form of storytelling. Some of the greatest teachers in history often told stories and used questions to pass their ideas onto others. Confucius (Kong Zi) being one of the most famous teachers in China and the world. In the West Socrates and Aesop were also very famous teachers. They all taught and discussed their ideas in the form of story and question. Even today the American President Barrack Obama often uses a story to talk about important world issues. This book is very simple. Have a thought. Tell a story about the thought. It has been said stories can be made from only 3 words. Then the imagination finishes it. It was also said you could tell all stories from just 36 different ideas. And finally, a discussion may start from a question, or a phrase, or keyword.

This book is broken into 18 lessons and each lesson is made up of three parts. 1. A warm up. Where you take 3 words and create a picture in your mind. From that you can describe what you see as short story or memory of a past event. 2. Topics are given in form of a short sentence. Two of you each in turn are given 3 minutes to express their thoughts, views, and opinions on the topic. The idea like that of the IELTS exam, where you are given a topic and then you must speak about it for 3 or more minutes. 3. An imaginary Peizheng College has been created similar to Harry Potters school in the famous movies and books. Here the familiar places and things of the college life are turned into the basis for a creative story. A short story is given to you so that you can use your imagination and knowledge and experiences to discuss the ideas described in the story.

Your teacher guides and encourages you through the process the goal being where you can express your thoughts and ideas in a second language and use your creativity, imagination, and visualization skills to create. By making stories and reading them out loud fun I hope you will find English can be fun too! But also the added benefits of this process are you having increased confidence in the use of English. You can now say English can be fun instead of My English is so poor In todays world imagination and creativity are the keystones of national progress and business innovation and growth. It is said a growth of creativity by 1% equals 10% national industrial growth. Which means more jobs for you! May you enjoy your experiences in this book.
