SYNOPSIS

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH 1 is designed to impart understanding of the basic of safety and health in workplace setting. This course presents aspects of occupational safety and health, which are essential for employees to practise safe and healthy environment, resulting in less hazards at the workplace. Emphasis is placed on the understanding of regulations, OSH management, accident prevention and occupational First-Aid methods.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOME (CLO)

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

Describe the OSH regulations and compliance and how it will create safe working environment. (C1)

2.

Identify hazards, risks and safe work practices in order to maintain healthy and safe work environment. (C1)

3.

Perform communication skills in a team to respond for an accident action at workplace. (A1)

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT Emphasizes upon the students the concept of safety and management responsibilities regarding safety & health matters at workplaces.

WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT AND ERGONOMICS Introduction to the concepts of ergonomic towards developing awareness among the students safe and healthy working environment.

INCIDENTS PREVENTION Explains the concept of incident and the comparison between incident and accident.

HAZARD IDENTIFICATION, RISK ASSESMENT AND RISK CONTROL (HIRARC) Introduce the basic understanding of HIRARC as accident and incident prevention tool.

OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID Explain the basic of first aid treatment at the workplace and the equipments needed for that purpose.
