This "README" text contains the following topics: -> Software Installation -> Installing Single Files -> Un-Installing -> New Features -> Color Printing -> Trouble Shooting (Troubles With File Transfers) -> WAVE-VIEW History Software Installation: ---------------------Begin by making backup copies of the original distribution diskettes and store them in a safe place. Insert the WAVE-VIEW for Windows diskette into a diskette drive on your computer and use the following procedure: For Windows 3.1: Choose RUN from Windows File Menu, type A:SETUP (or B:SETUP); press ENTER For Windows 95 or 98: Choose RUN from Windows Start Menu, type A:SETUP (or B:SETUP); press ENTER The installation program will create a directory, copy WAVE-VIEW for Windows files to your hard drive and also create a WAVE-VIEW Program Group. To start WAVE-VIEW: In Windows 3.1: Double click on the WAVE-VIEW Icon in the WAVE-VIEW Program Group. In Windows 95 or 98: In the START Menu, choose PROGRAMS | WAVE-VIEW | WAVE-VIEW. Installing Single Files: -----------------------If you wish to install an individual file, such as a waveform or .INI file, you need to copy the file from the distribution disk, and decompress the file. To decompress the file, use Windows(TM) EXPAND.EXE. Un-Installing: -------------To un-install WAVE-VIEW from your system:

For Windows 3.1: Use Windows(TM) File Manager to delete the entire "WAVEVIEW" dir ectory. Then, in Program Manager, select the WAVE-VIEW program group and press the delete key. A pop-up window will confirm your acti on by displaying,"Are you sure you want to delete the item '....' " . Press the OK button. Repeat this step until each item, "Waveview ", "README", and the WAVE-VIEW program group are deleted. For Windows 95: Use Windows(TM) Windows Explorer to delete the entire "WAVEVIEW" directory. New Features -----------WAVE-VIEW 1.42 is a maintenance revision. No new features were added. ------------

Color Printing -------------WAVE-VIEW supports printing the waveform traces in color. If you have a color printer, you may set this option ON or OFF in the WAVEVIEW.INI file following these steps: 1) Select the Options | Edit .INI File menu item. 2) Scroll to the [PrintOptions] section. 3) To print in color, set the color field as: Color=1 OR, to print in black and white, Color=0 4) Save the file and exit. Setting "Color=1" also copies color waveforms when using the Edit|Copy command . The background color defaults to white, and the cursors default to black. Trouble Shooting ----------------Troubles With File Transfers: A number of WAVE-VIEW users have encountered troubles with uploading waveforms. This problem is caused by a conflict in the SERIAL.386 file when using a PC's with a 16550 UART chip. Also, "Fault Se verity" was added under the "Options" menu. This provides the ability to select betw een dBRL readout and an application specific "Fault Ohms" readout. Instruments supported: Models 1205, 1220, 1205C, 1205T, 1235, 1270, 1205 CX, and 1205TX. 1.36 Release date: May 27th, 1998 This version provides full support of the 1205TX production release. It also adds the option of viewing the velocity factor in either VOP(%), V/2 (m/usec), or V/2 (feet/usec). This VOP feature is offered in the "Options" menu. Instruments supported: Models 1205, 1220, 1205C, 1205T, 1235, 1270, 1205 CX, and 1205TX. 1.35 Release date: April 2nd, 1998 Introduction of the Model 1205TX. Support of instruments using a bridged output. Instruments supported: Models 1205, 1220, 1205C, 1205T, 1235, 1270, 1205 CX, and 1205TX. 1.33 Release date: March 4th, 1998 This version supports the new 1205CX featuring internal cable correction and one way propagation time readout. Instruments supported: Models 1205, 1220, 1205C, 1205T, 1235, 1270, and Release date: November 26th, 1997 This version adds support of the Model 1205CX, including "sub-nanosecond pulsewidth waveforms.
