What is a Khata?

Khata Format Khata is loosely defined as an account. Any person who owns property within Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike jurisdiction needs to have a Khata. The details like size of property, use of the property as commercial or residential etc, the valuation of the property as per last assessment etc. The Khata is extract is valid for 5 years and is obtained by paying Rs.100/- per extract. Eligibility for obtaining Khata Owners or property holders who have property in the BBMP jurisdiction must get a Khata. Any person who has a Khata does not become the owner of the property but identifies that person as the one responsible to pay property tax on the said property.
