U14B Weather Cloudy Track Fine Our first game at home this season was a tight struggle in the first half between two good teams. Again we opened up the opposition with run and fierce tackling in the third and final qtr. The first qtr was a very scrappy affair with the defence ,led by some strong marking by Youngy, holding up well and then rebounding off half back. Soni,Josh,Liam and Chippy were attacking the ball in the forward line and providing the forward pressure that we need. Scores were close at the first change. Second qtr was similar to the first, hard midfield running saw Josh get free and slot a needed goal. Pauly was lively in the forward line and some smart play saw him snag one as well. Scores close at half time. Third Qtr saw us start to put the ball in the right position for our forwards to capitalise and goals came. There was more talk ,harder running and Zeb was outstanding across half back setting up many attacks. Youngy was providing another strong target and capitalising on his good work, Jordan became that link man between defence and attack and relished the challenge, while Brenton,Josh and Ky were providing strong hard running. The final qtr saw our running game break the opposition and they couldnt bridge the gap. The fierce attack on the ball continued and the guys should be happy with the game overall. In the end our wining margin got out to 39 points. Congratulations to Liam on his 50th game and nice to see him celebrate with a well earned goal. Best: Josh, Brenton, Soni, Youngy, Zeb, Ky, Liam, Jordan, Kuol and Pauly. Goals: 3 Youngy, Josh ,2 Pauly,1 Soni, Ky, Daniel, Liam

Under 10's match report Last weekend we travelled to the Pegs Juniors home ground with a great start to the game. The first half showed the team could work together and get the ball down to our end very quickly. Great goals were kicked due to fantastic team work but shepherding is something the under 10s need to work on. We would like to thank everybody who helped out this weekend. Congratulations to Will for getting an award for his good work in the backline and being able to play on the ball, also congratulations to Kirra for receiving an award last week for her hard work during our first match. Well done superstars!!!

Wyndhamvale 2 5 17 drew with Sanctuary Lakes 2 5 17

Our second game of the year at home this time to Sanctuary Lakes. It was a real battle in the first qtr again this week which saw us failing to score. But then we really got our team work and running togeth and lead by a couple of goals at the half time break. The third qtr was much of the same and seen us hold a 8 point margin. It was a real scrap in the last and we all played up the field, which meant that we were scoreless again in this last. This also meant that that the visitors were able to put on 8 ponts in this qtr. Our end result was a drawn game. Goals: Kaiden, Luke Best: Jake S, Jake R, Dekky, Josh, Iziah, James Thankyou to all of my volunteers: Gary (Goal Ump), Trevor (Water), John & Penny (Manager & Time Keeper) Matty ( Trainer and Runner) Jason ( Ump Escort and Scoreboard) Jo (Boundary Ump). As you can see some of these parents are taking on 2 jobs, so to all of our other parents can you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE come and offer your help. It doesn't have to be every week, but the same parents are doing jobs week in and week out and I'm sure that they would like the opportunity to watch the game as well. Well Done Boys! Charlie

Senior Women This round saw us playing the top, in form team, Pascoe Vale. A great test of how we are travelling at the minute. Some inaccurate shots on goal early saw us behind on the board, but our play overall was excellent. Our tackling and teamwork is looking good and starting to become second nature. Our defence from the back half stood up well and we had good running of the ball all over the ground. The game was close all day. Our last quarter saw us struggle to score, but I am pleased to say no one gave up trying. We simply ran out of legs. We can all be confident of getting plenty of improvement into our team with some hard work and time together. Simple things like, holding the mark or delivering to the best option are vital lessons. WYNDHAMVALE V SPOTSWOOD

Travelling down the highway to play Spotswood this week I hoped we would get a good workout, unfortunately Spotswood werent up to the task. We controlled the game from the start with Jason giving us first use of the ball from the ruck. Spotswood pushed us at times during the game mainly due to our lack of accountability. We did enough to win the game comfortably but were never really tested throughout. Having played the bottom two sides in this division it is hard to gauge where we are at, we need to be put under some real pressure to see how well we respond but knowing the boys pretty well by now Im sure we will stand up when the times comes. Good to see some of our younger, smaller players (Boof, Chase, Coco & Jack G.) putting in good efforts this week, willing to risk their bodies by shepherding and helping their team mates. Great game by our full back Kochy who continually ran the ball out of defence, almost kicking a goal at one stage, he set a good example for everyone by running hard all day. This is what we all need to do each game. Our goal kicking machine, Jhosh put in another great effort for us and our leadership group also set a good example. Every member of the team made a contribution today but we still need to work on some specific areas of our game which I wont go into now as you boys should know what it takes to play well and win. Wyndhamvale 20 - 20 - 140 Spotswood 5 - 8 - 38

Wyndhamvale 4.4.28 def Newport 0.7.7

Another great game on sunday saw our boys score another great win. Right from the start the boys were switched on and ready to go. The pleasing thing with sundays game was the way the boys shared the ball around to set up our goals. One passage of play saw our boys kick out and with plenty of hard running from Jacko, move the ball into our forward line without Newport touching the ball. A nice mark to Jordan.L, then a quick handball to Mouse, GOAL to the Falcons!! Again, it is very pleasing to see the boys doing things during the game that we have been working on at training. We must continue to work hard on the track to keep achieving these wins. We must GROW! Goals- Boo 1, Mouse 1, Jordy 1,Griffo 1 Best - Josh, Jacko, Azza, Matty.C, Mouse A special mention goes out to the whole backline, A job well done boys!! Also a thank you to all the helpers, I forgot to mention you guys last week. "Never Give Up" DAMO

Round 2 V's Point Cook

Well it was a cold and windy morning that reminded us all that football is a winter sport, we came into this game knowing that we were going to be short a few players as holidays took a few of our boys away...half their luck as the warm weather would have been a great change for the rest of us...lol to put it plain and simply point cook were a very good side. we had some guys that really tried there hearts out, first year player Tyler 'Ev' Evans had his best game, he didn't stop running all game and took some sensational marks including almost bringing down mark of the year. keep up the awesome effort Tyler. Andrew 'Brooksy' Brookes appeared to be under every pack and would have got the ball at least 15 times and just keeps giving out those cheeky smiles, the team is looking forward to brooksy improving even more this year. With out doubt most determined player against point cook had to be 'Ravi' he tackled, chased, marked and kicked his way into our supporters cheers as he is unrecognisable with those really long socks... Ravi has been probably the biggest improver all year and is an integral part of the falcons team. Unfortunately we were unable to trouble the scorers but the effort was certainly there. with some extra effort at training and a willingness to learn and listen when we play them later in the year it will be a different story. Lets look forward to the local derby next week against Hoppers Crossing. Best Players.... Tyler, Brooksy, Ravi, Collo, Jack J

Round 1 V's Caroline Springs

Well after a long pre season with plenty of hard training done by all, it all came down to Sundays first game against our old rivals Caroline Springs. We have many new players this year in the famous under 9's and they have all mixed in really well with the old heads of the team. Our little falcons were pumped up before the game and we came out firing on all cylinders with a high quality first quarter that was full of attacking. Right from the bounce we had winners all over the ground, Will 'collo' Collins was a driving force getting the ball forward at any opportunity. After attacking strongly Riley 'Little Evo' Evans swooped on a ground ball picking it up with poise and after shrugging off a couple of tackles put the ball sailing through the high diddle diddle for our first goal for the year. 'Lt Evo' also snagged another pearla in the 3rd quarter to finish the game with 2 goals. Jaiden 'Giggles' Reid was not about to be outdone so he burst through a pack with the footy and slotted one and celebrated with the double fist pump and an elongated giggle, this got the boys going. We scored 3 goals in the first quarter with Noah 'Coons' Cooney snapping an absolute rip snorter on his left foot that sent cheers through the crowd... Our supporters and the big crowd were gobsmacked at the improvement in our group but one little falcon seemed to gain lots of praise from them all... His improvement this year has been enormous, he took 4 great marks had 6 kicks 3 hand balls but he also had 4 tackles, he is certainly a crowd favourite... I am of coarse talking about 'Prath'..... Keep up the hard work. In the second quarter the falcons boys kept their foot on the pedal, they were running in numbers, handballing really well and pumping the ball forward at every opportunity... it was awesome to watch... these repeated attacks forward gave the falcons cult hero Nash 'WEEMAN' Cook, a chance to weave his magic... he put a bone crunching bump on, then dodged an opponent then with pure class slotted the footy through the big sticks, I thought it was an absolute HUMDINGER. It was in this second quarter that one of our players really started to shine, Jack 'The Ripper' Jurowitze was leaving the caroline springs players in his dust with some sublime and creative handball, he showed courage like that of Glen Archer putting his body on the line at every opportunity he was by far our best player on the day...great work Jack. One of Jacks handballs ended in the teams speedsters Max 'Junior' Logan literally running past everyone taking a bounce and letting a huge kick sail over the goal umpires hat, to raise 2 outstretched fingers for a memorable goal that showed skill and talent worthy of a senior footballer. After a stomach full of snakes and an encouraging word from 'Evo' the boys continued their good form by completely outplaying the opposition. First year player Harper 'Harps' Steenbuck was inspirational with his attack on the ball and the man, he is well on the way to taking the tackling king tag for this year. Riley 'Lt Evo' somehow manufactured another goal but it was another first year player that stole the goal kicking show. Kobe 'Fangs' Fonua, after giving some of the best and scariest tackle faces that show all of his fangs (teeth), the opposition would not go anywhere near this little warrior....he swooped on a loose ball towards the pocket and with amazing goal sense just snapped the ball over his shoulder the crowd were all waving it through, the timekeeper was screaming it through and low and behold the ball miraculously sailed between the big sticks for our final goal for the day.... 'Fangs' sure knows how to celebrate as he gave it the twirling finger and high everyone bar the umpire it seemed...excellent work Kobe. The last quarter saw us slightly run out of legs as caroline springs kicked a few late goals but that certainly didn't deter from our boys enthusiasm to belt out our famous theme song whilst linked arm in arm... It was great to see such great improvement from all of our players and it is even better to see all of our new falcons fitting in and enjoying footy so much.... Its going to be a great year Boys Best Players.... Kobe Fonua, Max, Prath, Harper, Nash, Riley Goals...... Riley 2, Jayden 1, Kobe Fonua 1, Noah 1, Nash 1, Max 1
