XXXX XXXX JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Finance Officer Responsible to: Finance & Business Support Services

Manager Responsible for: Purpose of Role: Responsibility for the probity and effectiveness of the routine accounts functions and processing of the monthly payroll for all staff. Key Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Maintain the Sage Accounting and Payroll packages and ensure adequate backup procedures are followed. 2. Ensure that each transaction is correctly identified and that a full audit trail is maintained. 3. Maintain complete confidentiality in all respects with regard to information to which access may be gained. 4. Liaise with all Managers and respond promptly to requests for information. 5. Maintain the payroll system to ensure accurate and timely payments of all staff based upon submission of authorised timesheets where needed. Ensure appropriate monthly and annual payments (including P11D submissions) to HM Revenue & Customs, and that all starters and leavers are duly processed. 6. Maintain the Petty Cash Fund, ensuring all payments are made against appropriate receipts, and balance the fund on a weekly basis. 7. Responsibility for the Friends Provident Stakeholder Pension Scheme including deductions from employees and online filing of monthly returns. 8. At month end, ensure the reconciliation of the bank accounts. 9. Adhering to all XXXXs Policies & Procedures; and in particular promoting good practice regarding (a) confidentiality; (b) Health & Safety of self, colleagues and service users; and (c) equality of opportunity. 10. To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required from time to time by the Finance & Business Support Services Manager, including deputising in his/her absence. Criteria or Competency Knowledge A current working knowledge of the Sage Accounting and Payroll packages. Thorough knowledge of Inland Revenue legislation as it applies to payroll procedures and employee entitlements. Fully computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office. E Experience Sufficient experience in a similar role with the same level of responsibility. E Skills Good organisational skills with an eye for detail. Methodical approach to dealing with complex issues of a financial nature. E Good interpersonal skills and telephone manner. E Approach Patient and methodical with the ability to work on own initiative. E Confident in dealing with other members of staff and a willingness to assist in advising on matters directly related to the finance function. E Qualifications AAT or equivalent or Qualified by Experience. Circumstances A part time role. Some flexibility to the hours.
