Radio Network Optimization Acceptance Report for GLO WCDMA Project

1 Introduction
The statistical data shows present performance KPIs of cluster two before and after RF optimization. In this report, the WCDMA RAN performance is described according to separate measures of RF coverage, Accessibility and Retainability, using Huaweis quality metrics and classifications. This analysis was performed for Pre Optimization. Data is collected from WCDMA test UE.

1.1 Test Tools

Test instruments Laptop, UE (Sony Ericsson W995), GPS (Globalsat GPS BU-353) Test Data Collection Tool TEMS Investigation Data Collection, Version 10.0.5 Post Processing Tool Actix, TEMS Investigation Route Analysis Version 10.0.5, MapInfo Professional

1.2 Data collect Method

The method to collect data for the analysis is from drive test by testing each service. Short Calls A short voice call attempt is performed every 40 seconds, including 10 seconds of idle time between two consecutive calls. This mobile is configured for IRAT handover. HSDPA Packet Calls A Packet Interactive Call is made to a FTP server to download files. The call shall remain active until the file has been downloaded or the call is dropped. The RAB can transition through the various R.99/HSDPA RAB connections. The FTP server is ftp://ftp.uninet.ee server.

RF Analysis and Comparison

3.1.1 RSCP Coverage

CPICH RSCP distribution shows the downlink coverage. Greater Pilot RSCP reflects better downlink coverage.

C D

Figure1: RSCP Distribution map Figure 1 above shows the RSCP Coverage for the network before optimization. Bad areas marked B, C & D was due distance from the serving sector. The Areas A need 2 degree electrical down tilt at site UKAD023B to improve the coverage in the area.

3.1.3

UE Tx Power Coverage

Fig.3 below also shows the UE-Tx power statistics recorded for Cluster 1 before Optimization which was -100 to 0 dBm, indicating very strong Uplink coverage. The indexes of UE-TX power 10dBm was measured as 84.1%.

3.2 Quality
3.2.1 Ec/Io Coverage CPICH pilot Ec/Io greater than -12dB before Optimization is represented as 95.6%, this is directly related to the downlink coverage.

3.3 Cell Best SC Distribution

Scramble code (SC) distribution shows the coverage ability of every UMTS cell. In the figure below, different colors represent different SC.

3.4 Pilot Pollution

3.4.1.Pilot pollution At each measurement point, the number of detected CPICHs that fulfill the condition Ec/Nonth cell SC >= Ec/NoBest serving cell SC 5 dB AND RSCPnth cell SC >=-90 dB has been computed.

Figure 8 shows pilot pollution map. Pollution is recorded only in situations where the number of polluters is greater than 3.

Figure 8: Pilot Pollution map

From the figure 8 above, it can be seen that the pilot pollution overhead is 0.1%, which is good.
