2013 Annual Meeting & Gallery Dedication

Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 5:15-6:15 pm 4260 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach
The HSLB will host its 51st annual meeting on Wed, May 8th at 5:15 at 4260 Atlantic Ave. Following the business meeting, the HSLB will dedicate its gallery in honor of the first members of its Legacy Guild. During this dedication event, the HSLB will unveil The Lee Anderson & Evan Anderson Braude Gallery. This gallery houses its Historical Newspaper Collection which includes bound volumes of The Press-Telegram and several other mastheads dating back to the late 1800s. Naming this impressive space for Lee Anderson and Evan Anderson Braude is our way of paying tribute to their contributions to Long Beach and southern California, said Kristi Fischer, who serves as co-president of the HSLB along with Braude. The event begins with a wine, cheese and dessert reception at 5:15. The business meeting follows the reception and includes a review of the annual financial report as well as highlights of the year including its exhibits and programs. HSLB members will elect and install officers and directors including Co-Presidents Roxanne Patmor and Evan Anderson Braude, Vice President Kaye Briegel, Secretary Craig Hendricks, and Treasurer Niki Tennant. Directors up for election this year include Evan Anderson Braude, Julian DelGaudio, Kristi Fischer, Betty Karnette, and Ron Sylvester. The nominating committee has selected Marsha Naify to lead our board of advisors and activate the group in its support of the HSLB. Both Naify and Sylvester became acquainted with the HSLB as part of the LGBT History Project Steering Committee. Out going board members Kathleen Arnett, Ian Patton, and Toby Settle will be acknowledged for their outstanding service. Arnett served on the executive committee, Patton has and will continue to serve as HSLBs webmaster and technical support. In 2010, he organized the popular Mayors Oral History Series. Settle has cataloged collections and provided support for exhibits and programs. HSLB volunteers Marsha Naify co-chair of the LGBT History Project, Ellen Ward fundraising chair of the LGBT History Project, and Sonja Ulrich will be recognized for their time, dedication and accomplishments on behalf of the HSLB. RSVPs to the event are requested please call 562.424.2220 or email TimF@hslb.org.
