LinkbudgetsComparisonGSM/HSPA/LTE
TheLTElinkbudgetindownlinkhasseveralsimilaritieswithHSPAandthe maximumpathlossissimilar. The h uplink l kparthas h somedifferences: d ff smaller ll interference f margininLTE,nomacro diversitygaininLTEandnofastfadingmargininLTE. ThelinkbudgetsshowthatLTEcanbedeployedusingexistingGSMandHSPAsites assumingthatthesamefrequencyisusedforLTEasforGSMandHSPA. LTEitselfdoesnotprovideanymajorboostinthecoverage.Thatisbecausethe transmissionpowerlevelsandtheRFnoisefiguresarealsosimilarinGSMand HSPAtechnologies,andthelinkperformanceatlowdataratesisnotmuch differentinLTEthaninHSPA. Thelinkbudgetwascalculatedfor64kbpsuplink,whichislikelynotahighenough dataratefortruebroadbandservice.Ifwewanttoguaranteehigherdataratesin LTE,wemayneedlowfrequencydeployment,additionalsites,activeantenna solutionsorlocalareasolutions.
