People’s Response:
L – Leader P – People L: As usual Jesus went out to the Mount of Olives to pray, but tonight was
different. He told His disciples to pray that they not be led into temptation.
L: Hosanna to the Son of David, the King of Israel!
C: Yet, they could not keep awake.
P: Hosanna in the highest!
L: Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. L: Jesus prayed, “Father, if You will take this cup of suffering away from me.
P: Hosanna in the highest! Not my will, however, but Your will be done.”
C: A crowd arrived, led by Judas, who kissed Him. One of the disciples drew

us. There is nothing this man has done to deserve death. So I will have
Him whipped and let Him go.”
C: Yet the crowd cried out, “Kill Him! Set Barabbas free!”
L: Pilate tried three times to set Jesus free and the crowd shouted at the top of
their voices that He be crucified. So finally Pilate passed the sentence on Jesus
that they wanted and set free Barabbas, a murderer.
R 5: The soldiers led Jesus away and hung Him on a cross in between
two criminals. One hurled insults at Him, but the other rebuked his
fellow criminal and said, “He has done no wrong.” He asked Jesus
to remember him, “when you come as King!” Jesus said, “I promise
you that today you will be in Paradise with Me.”
R 6: The soldiers and others made fun of Jesus. They even threw dice
for His clothes and offered Him cheap wine. Jesus said, “Forgive
them Father! They don’t know what they are doing!”

*Hymn #288 “Were You There”

Pastor: Through Jesus’ suffering and death, we believe that He became the source
of eternal salvation. We remember His passion so that we might never
forget all which He took upon Himself for our sin, hereby securing for us
God’s promise. We look forward to His coming again in final victory.

We Go Out To Serve
*Benediction
Pastor: Go forth in celebration of the One who comes in the name of the
Lord!
C: Asserting the Presence among us. Christ is there as promised.
Pastor: Go forth in reflectiveness.
C: Remembering how quickly we change. We reject tomorrow the
One whom we embrace today.
Pastor: Go forth in joy.
C: Knowing that God is with us. The suffering is not in vain.

Welcome to Elmgrove Church

We’re Glad You’re Here!
Welcome! It was the children on Palm Sunday who cheered the loudest. They loved
Him simply because they knew how much He loved them. If by chance your faith has
lost its childlike simplicity, we hope that this hour of worship will restore it to you and
we offer our friendship to help in the restoration. Please stay for coffee or lemonade
after worship and give us the pleasure of meeting you.
