We ran out of time to cover Repeats, Transposition and Score Tidy Up in Session 2, but we covered those first in Session 3 so those homework tasks appear here again.

the

is
this:

My approach to this score It may be a help to know how I approached the formatting of this score. Here are the general steps I followed: First, I hid the empty staves Checked whether there were collisions and whether the score was clear to read Made the stave size smaller to create more space and reduce the number of pages. The stave size was originally 7.0. I ended up reducing it to 6.5mm Check whether the music ends at the bottom of the last page (it didnt) Forced a bar or two down on to the next system to spread out the music at the end
Formatting parts Check formatting and make changes if necessary, using the same skills you learnt to format the full score. Many parts require little or no formatting at all. Any differences between the part and the score are marked orange. If youd like to practice viewing and formatting parts, select another one or two and run through the same process Create a new part Create a new part that includes both Clarinet staves. Once youve done that, you can save and close this score. See Notes part 3 page 6, Parts
Add note names This plug-in automatically add note names above or below each note. First, make sure youre in Panorama view (press Shift+P) Select the entire Ash Grove melody Sibelius 5 & 6: go to Plug-ins > Text > Add note names Sibelius 7: go to Text > Plug-ins > Add note names Choose your settings (see image, right) and click OK
Add simple harmony #1 Select The Ash Grove melody again Sibelius 5 & 6: go to Plug-ins > Text > Add note names Sibelius 7: go to Text > Plug-ins > Add note names Choose these settings Click OK
Its not perfect, but you can easily fix any parts you dont like. Add simple harmony #2 Well run the same plug-in again, but this time be sure to use these alternative settings instead (see image): Select The Ash Grove melody again Sibelius 5 & 6: go to Plug-ins > Text > Add note names Sibelius 7: go to Text > Plug-ins > Add note names Choose these settings Click OK
You should end up with a second piano stave, which includes this accompaniment:

Violin

Cello
Next, select the second piano part Double-click in the right hand stave, then Shift-click in the left-hand stave Press Ctrl+C (C) Select the destination bars: click in the first bar of Violin 1, then shift-click in the first bar of the cello part Sibelius 5 & 6: go to Notes > Arrange Sibelius 7: go to Note Input > Arrange > Choose Arrange Style In the window that opens, choose the family of instruments you are arranging for: Strings Click OK
The piano part should explode into the string parts. See Notes part 3 page 7, Arrange
