Magnetic materials
1. Teaching shows six pictures : aluminium pot, tungsten wire, chrome tap, cobalt alloy, steel pipe and zinc. Questions: Which of the following can be attracted by a magnet? 2. Students click on the magnetic material. 3. Teacher introducing learning objectives.
Group activity : 1. Teacher will ask the students to form a group of 6. 2. Teacher will give 2 bar magnets, iron filling, compass and cardboard to each group. 3. Teacher poses a question : Why is important not to place a magnet near a steel watch? 4. The pupils will be asked to drag and drop paper clips near a bar magnet 5. Students carry out an activity provided in the teaching courseware to investigate magnetic field and how to plot the directions of the magnetic field. (follow instruction in Teaching Courseware) 6. Students draw patterns of magnetic fields of a bar magnet and indicate the direction of the magnetic field lines on activity sheet . 1. Teacher explains the meaning of magnetic field. 2. Use a video to investigate the magnetic field. 3. Use the video teaches students how to plot the directions of the magnetic field, 4. Students identify the properties of magnetic fields lines.
SPS 1. Observing 2. Communicating Materials: Bar magnet, compass iron filling, cardboard Morale value: Co-operation
Relationship between magnetic field lines and the strength of a magnetic field. How is a magnet use in a compass?
1. Teacher shows the magnetic field lines of a bar magnet. 2. Students state the relationship between magnetic field lines and the strength of a magnetic field. 3. Students find out why magnet is used in compasses.
1. Students are asked to answer 5 multiple choice questions in the activity sheets. 2. Students are call randomly to answer the questions. .
1. Teacher concludes the lessons by asking the learning outcomes in the form of questions. What is a magnetic field? How can we draw the magnetic field of a bar magnet? How do we determine the directions of the magnetic field? What is the relationship between magnetic field lines and the strength of a magnetic field? How is a magnet used in a compass? 2. Teacher reminds student to do short notes on this subtopic.
SPS 1. Communicating TS 1. Relating 2. Generating ideas Morale value 1. Appreciating Gods creations
