(Two hours and a half) Answers to this Paper must be written on the paper brought separately.

You will not be allowed to write during the first 15 minutes. This time is to be spent in reading the question paper. The time given at the head of this Paper is the time allowed for writing the answers. Attempt all questions from Section A and any four questions from Section B. All working, including rough work, must be clearly shown and must be done on the same sheet as the rest of the answer. Omission of essential working will result in loss of marks. SECTION A (40 Marks)

MATHEMATICS

Question 1 (a)Mrs.Kar and Mrs.Dhar went on shopping in two successive weeks. In the first week,Mrs Kar bought 2kg of apple and 1.5kg of oranges while Mrs.Dhar bought 3kg of apple and 2kg of orange. In the next week,Mrs.Kars purchase were 1.5kg of apple and 1kg of oranges and Mrs.Dhars purchase was 2.5kg of apple and 1.5kg of oranges. If the Price of apple was 12 per kg and of oranges 35 per kg. Using Matrices find their expenses. [3] (b)

5075 are divided among 4 sheeps,3 donkeys and 5 pandas so that each
sheep gets 3 times of a donkey and each donkey gets twice as a panda gets.Find the share of a sheep, a donkey and a panda respectively. [3]

(c) Using remainder and factor theorem factorise completely the following polynomial. 6x3 -11x2-3x + 2 [4] Question 2 (a)Mr. Mark Zuckerberg purchased a computer. Its cost depreciates by 720 during the second year and by 648 during the third year .Find the value of the computer at the end of third year. [3] (b) In the diagram given below, find the radius of the inner circle if other circles are having equal radii of r= 500cm. [3]

(c) ) A (2,5),B(-1,2) and C(5,8) are the vertices of a triangle ABC.P & Q are points on AB and AC respectively such that AP:PB=AQ:QC =1:2

i) Find the co-ordinates of P & Q ii) Show that 3PQ =BC

3) a) In the adjacent figure, circle touches the side BC of a triangle ABC at P & sides AB & AC produced at Q & R respectively. If AQ= 15cm, then find the perimeter of triangle ABC.[3]

b) Without using trigonometrical tables prove that: SinA cosA cotA + tanA Sin(90-A) cos(90-A)

c) There are three groups A, B, C containing 22, 18 and 10 students respectively & the mean weight of the combined set of 50 students is found to be 47.6 Kg.If the mean weight of group A & B is 40 Kg & 50Kg respectively, calculate the mean weight of group C. [4] Question4: a) If the monthly installment is Rs.400 & the maturity value is Rs.10600 . Find the number of installments (months) if the rate of interest is 10% per annum. [3]

b) Anshuman can solve 75% of the problem in mathematics test & Aman can solve 70% of it.What is the probability that either Anshuman or Aman can solve a problem chosen at random. [3]

c) Draw a unit square whose vertices are P(2,3), Q(4,3), R(4,5) , and S(2,5).Reflect the square in Y-Axis & then reflect the image obtain in Y-Axis in the origin. i) If the result of the above two reflections is the square PQRS, write down the coordinates of PQRS. ii) What single transformation would give the same final result? iii) What is the equation of the line SR? iv) What is the equation of the line QR? [4]

SECTION B (40 Marks)

Question 5 a) In the following figure ,AZ is the diameter of a circle with center O & CD is the chord with length equal to radius OA. If AC produced & ZD produced meet at point P , then find the value of angle APZ. [3]

b)Using ruler & compass only construct a triangle XYZ in which YZ = 6cm, XY=9cm,angle

<XYZ =60

. Then:

i)Construct the locus of all points inside trainge XYZ which are equi distant from Y& Z. ii) Construct the locus of the vertices of triangle with YZ as base, which have area equal to triangle XYZ. iii) Measure & record the length of ZQ if Q is the tip of triangle QYZ, equal in area to triangle XYZ. c) One third of a bamboo pole is buried in ground water , one sixth in mud & 1/72th in water & the part above the pond is greater than or equal to 0.5 meter .Find the length of the shortest pole & represent the answer (inequation) in number line if x belong to R. (x=length of bamboo pole) [3]

If the bank pays the interest at the rate of 6% compounded half yearly, complete the above page of his passbook. Find the interest also. [4] b) (Assumption: Profit is Rs.50 at each stage of the S.P chain ) The manufacturer Anshuman , the sale distributor Sourav ,the wholesaler Suraj, the retailer Sidharth live in the same state where the rate of VAT is 8%. The C.P of Anshumans commodity is Rs.200. Find the total amount of VAT paid to Gov. [3] [4] c)

Question 7: a) The bottom of cylindrical vessel is hemispherical (see figure) . Given, radius of hemisphere =5.6cm.Calculate the level of water (Height) which would stand in the vessel if 218 1/6 cm3 of water is poured into it. [3]

b)A cylinder has a volume of 72cm3. Another cylinder has 1/3rd the radius of the first cylinder & double the height of first cylinder & 1/7th the density of first cylinder. Find the volume of 2nd cylinder. [3] c)A round balloon of radius r subtends an angle

at the eye of an observer while the angle

of elevation of its centre is .Find the height of the centre of the balloon from the ground . [4] Question 8) a) Modi had 400 shares of Face value Rs.100 in a company paying x% dividend .Later, she sold 1/4th shares when the price rose to Rs.150 & and sold the remaining shares when the price again rose by 20% . Then she invested the total proceeds in 12%. Rs.100 shares of a company at Rs.150 & increased her income by Rs.3120. Find the value of x.[3]

Question 9: a) The line x-4y=6 is the perpendicular bisector of the segment AB & the co-ordinates of B are (1,3). Find the coordinates of A. [3] b) Without using trigonometrical tables, evaluate: [3]

c)Two trains leave a railway station at the same time . The first train travels due west and the 2nd train travels due north. The 1st train travels 5Km/hr faster than the 2nd train. If after 2 hours they are 50km apart, find the average speed of each train. [4]

Question 10 a)The angle of elevation of an airplane from a point P on the ground is 60 o.After 12 seconds from the same point P, the angle of elevation of the same plane changes to 30o. If the plane is flying horizontally at a speed of6003 km/h, find the height at which the plane is flying[4] b)The frequency distribution of scores obtained by 230 candidates in IIT-JEE entrance test is as follows:

b) In the diagram given below, equation of AB is x-

+1=0 and equation of AC is x-y-2=0.

(i) Write down the angles that the lines AC and AB make with the positive direction of X- axis. (ii) Find< BAC.
