S1 - 2012
ELEC1111
Prototyping Board
Reading Resistor color codes
Digital Multimeter
Power Supply
Signal Generator
The Oscilloscope
(Appendix 1)
(Appendix 2)
(Appendix 3)
(Appendix 4)
(Appendix 5)
(Appendix 6)
Things to bring:
Prototyping board
Notes:
1. When using the Precision Resistance Bridge:
a. Make sure youre measuring resistance not something else
b. There is a button just under the two metal jaws. That button will open the metal jaws. Use it.
Pre-Lab:
Section A
[(
Soldering
(Appendix 8)
Things to bring:
Notes:
1. You can build and test your LED circuit on your breadboard instead of soldering it all together
2. Make sure your LEDs are the correct way around
Pre-Lab:
Assemble the amplifier and tape down the components so they dont fall out during transport. You can solder at
home if you have a soldering iron.

V=IR
Kirchhoffs Laws
Node voltage equations
Things to bring:
Prototyping board
9V Battery
Notes:
1. Your battery will drop in voltage as it is used
Pre-Lab:
Section A
- i) Load current:
Power dissipated:
Power delivered:
Power delivered equals power dissipated? Yes
- ii) Terminal Voltage: 8.3 A
Current flowing:
Voltage drop:
Internal resistance:
1.2V
Things to bring:
Breadboard
LED set
Something that can count seconds
Notes:
1. The capacitor wont be destroyed if its non-polarized.
2. You dont have to do Part C if you dont want to. However you can get bonus Lab marks which may help
cover marks you lost in other labs
Pre-Lab:
None
S1 - 2012
ELEC1111
Things to bring:
Notes:
1. The radio uses PPM except the oscilloscope will show them as voltage drops
Pre-Lab:
You may want to exaggerate the amount of amplitude and frequency modulation.
PWM
PPM

Things to bring:
Your best reaction skills and maybe something that you can use to count seconds
Notes:
1. You can hit pause to draw the graph
2. If you hit pause more than once in the application you may need to click run more than once
Pre-Lab:
None
S1 - 2012
ELEC1111
Things to bring:
Notes:
1. For the last question asking how many stations you can get you can just write 0
Pre-Lab:
AM
Amplitude modulation alters and encodes the signal
in the varying amplitude of a frequency-constant wave
FM
Frequency modulation alters and encodes the signal
in the varying frequency of a amplitude-constant wave
Things to bring:
Notes:
1. Do the Prelim reading before the lab, theres a lot to read
2. Make sure the equipment is wired properly and the wires are as short as possible. Long wires will cause
problems.
